As there's no electricity and I don't know what time they would fix the electricity problem. So I am planning to put the fish on a bowl of vinegar so as to preserve the fish. But the chicken is don't know what to do with it. As I have just bought a kilo of chicken fillet also. So I hope that the electricity would be back soon so that i would not need to cook all of the chicken that i have bought as I don't have the time to cook for now.

I have an battery at my home which supply power even if the power supply is off. I just make use of the battery to on the refrigerator and I would used to keep the rest of the food items like fishes and chicken or vegetables inside it to preserve it. The problem comes only when the battery has no charge. During those times everything is beyond my control.

Canned goods - Canned goods: to minimize spoilage of frozen goods
My wife is now good in preserving food because of those fluctuating electricity outage that we are having lately. Vinegar can be a wonderful extender, really. She uses that among others. We even plan to buy only limited amount now, those frozen ones - fish, chicken and pork, for us to save money and avoid too much spoilage. And so, canned goods is a hit for us, I think, just for now. Thanks

Frozen food will keep for up to 48hrs in your freezer if it's full and kept closed all the time the power is out. If the refrigerator is full it will preserve food for 4-6hrs without power as long as the temp doesn't go over 40 degrees. If it isn't full it won't keep as long and it also depends on how many times you keep opening the door. The only other way I know of preserving chicken is to cook it and can it. But you said you didn't have time to cook that much chicken. I think chicken goes bad pretty fast. If the electricity is out for a long time you can buy dry ice and wrap it in paper or put in in styrofoam in you refrigerator and freezer. This will keep it colder for a while longer. I hate power outages. It makes me realize how much we take for granted. Good luck with your chicken and I hope the power comes back soon. Try to to have a good day (or night) in spite of the chicken!
