I've recently started reading romance novels. Any recommendations on individual novels or series? Appreciate your thoughts on why I enjoy them so much? Is it a woman's desire to be loved and appreciated? Is it a way we live out our fantasies?

One of the best novelists during my time was Barbara Cartland. Her romance novels are from the olden era of royal courts. Though, most of her stories are good for pocket books but she has novels as well. Try the "Gone with the Wind" title as well. Try also the title "Once is not Enough".

Thanks. I had never thought of reading 'Gone with the Wind' because it is so famous as a movie, and I hadn't even thought of it in print. Of course the books are always better. Maybe there is an exception - but that's what I think is commonly believed. Thanks for the suggestions.

i would suggest Danielle Steel. some of her books are good and the plots are good but some of her books seem to be written in a rush with no real meat to them. it just depends on which book. i find her older books are better than her newer ones.
