Have you ever heard of this software. Microsoft virtual PC that allows you to install any operating system in your current running windows operating system. Provided that OS must support the same architecture. There are other software like these like VMware, Oracle VirtualBox (You can download this software for free) that allow you to run any OS without you need to format your current live hard disk and leaving the risk of your real hardware being damaged and allow safe use of any application. Well I use Virtual PC software and I use it to access my internet to. If you know how to make a ISO file of you Operating System installation CD then you can use this software to have safe access to internet and provide better and safe environment to your real system. Also it prevents from your real system from slowing down. If you like to know how do we use it, follow these steps:(here I am refering to MS virtual PC 2007; you can use other free software like Oracle Virtual Box too but you need to follow its own procedure as its interface deferes) 1: Install the MS virtual in your system. 2: Start the software. A virtual PC console will pop up. 3. Click New. New Virtual Wizard will pop up. 4. In Welcome to new virtual wizard click next. 5. In options page, you will have three options. For fresh/new one select Create a virtual machine. Then click next. (other options are for those when you already have a .vmc configuration file; yes these steps are to create a configuration file) 6. Next comes virtual machine names and location. Specify your location where you want to save the configuration file By clicking Browse or you can set it to default by just typing in file name like 'windows xp'. (Select the drive where you have most amount of free space; default location is somewhere in your mydocuments folder - My Virtual Machines) 7. Next comes the operating system page. In operating system, select other for Linux, unix, or Mac based OS installation. Rest are there for you to select and install for windows based installation like windows xp, vistal, 98 and others including windows server 2003, 2008 and others. Select next. 8. In memory you can adjust RAM size or you can just use recommended size. click next. 9. In virtual hard disk page, select a new virtual hard disk if you are creating a new drive or select the first option if you have already a copy of VHD file. click next. 10.1. If you select first option then you will be directed to locate the required file. 10.2. If you select second option then you will create a new drive. provide its name and location (prefer most free drive). Provide its drive size (its like your hard disk drive in virtual form.) click next. 11. Click Finish. and its done. Now We are ready to install an Operating System. Create an ISO of your installation CD if you want to avoid frequent insert and eject work with CD or if you are not that lazy then you can work on like normal. Now in virtual PC console, select the file you just created and select start. In menu tab select CD and if you are using ISO file select capture ISO and find the iso file location Or select use Physical Drive:X (Varies from system to system). Now Reset the virtual machine by selecting action and reset. Now go to BIOS configuration and change boot priority to CD. Save configuration and when starts installation of OS starts. After installation is complete you can release the drive from the CD option from menu tab. Next Install Virtual Machine Additions from Action menu.(works only for windows based OS). This installation is to allow easy movement of your mouse pointer from virtual OS to real time OS. (You may notice that when you are operating in virtual PC you cannot move your mouse pointer to real time OS, press Alt+DEl to release mouse from virtual PC control to real time OS control.) Now to use internet from virtual PC. Go to Virtual PC console and Select settings, go to network settings and select your network card interface. If you choose local only then you will not be able to connect to internet but will only be able to communicate withing your system and that is out of scope. :) Use internet explorer browse download watch videos, install, and happy mylotting safely. :) Have A Nice Day!!! Good Day.

I use Linux and I have 2 Virtual Machines installed: one with Win XP and another with Win Vista. Those run quite slow, specially Win Vista, as my laptop is not the newest and I only have 2GB RAM. I have those installed as there are some tasks I need to do that require Win. I really like this Virtual Machine as it allows me to run both Windows at once inside my Linux and I can speed up working on my tasks :)

It has been around for a long time. I'm sure most computer nerds, myself included have heard about this. Very nice detailed information though. Will surely help those who wanted to try different OS, but didn't know how. Good day!
