I've been thinking of taking a course in Medical Transcription, and I've requested information from two different places. Hopefully I can get some info quickly and I will be able to decide. You can do payments. One place I think you have to take the exam online while another will mail it to you. It being mailed to me would be a lot better then online exam. In any case, after doing this I think if I like the school I'll do spanish as a second languge. I need to broaden my horizons and this seems to be the easiest and best way to suit my needs. Have you ever done distance learning?

I have never done distance learning, but someone I use to know was a medical transcriptionist. She swore by it and seemed to be quite happy with it because she made her own schedule and earned good money.

To make my own schedule, I think that's the best part for me. It's one winning point for me as to taking these classes. I feel like it's also the safest way to be my own boss without investing too terribly much money into it. I realize I'll need specific tools to help me along the way, but it's not like finding a business location, etc, etc. Medical careers are always in demand, which is REALLY good. I honestly didn't realize that you could do distance learning other then in HS. I had a friend who took a distance learning class while in HS because she had so many other classes as well. So technically she had 8 classes instead of the 7 regular ones.

Yeah the local community college offers some online classes for free and it's great. However I've been told by a friend who took an english class via the college online last year as part of her studies, that it's not easy and not fun. The courses I am looking into will send me the text books via the mail and I study them. I may have to take the exam online but it's open book, or one place will mail me out the exam.. much easier as this computer is locked down pretty tight and I don't own it so have no say in it.

Many colleges offer distance learning. Some have class lectures available online for free.

I haven't done the distance learning but I considered it before I started the program I am in now. I do know some people at work that have done all their classes online and they really like them. For myself, I was afraid that I would get stuck on something and not be able to get past it. They do have people that you can call in those cases though.

This is actually materials being mailed to you. They even mail you the exam, though you can do it online and it gets graded right away that way. I think it would be really good for me, I don't really have the money to shell out for regular college classes, and I don't have the transportation right now either. After I get done with this, I may go on to do more in the medical section there. My sister wants to go back to school herself but doesn't have the money, I told her about this but she's probably not going to do it...

It's tough to pay for classes and it sounds like a good option for sure. I hope it works out and you enjoy it.

I am currently enrolled in online distance learning courses for my undergraduate degree, as courses that are offered at my local community college are so meager. I think that medical transcription is an in-demand field and learning Spanish will only increase your opportunities for the future. Best of luck!

The Local CC's here are pretty great, but I just can't afford the commute etc to the school's right now. I dont' see anything wrong with studying via distance learning either as it still expands my knowledge and gives me credentials. I plan to take more courses as I learn and maybe eventually I go into a community college, but I much prefer distance learning, at my own place for right now. What school are you enrolled in for the undergrad degree?

I am doing an online graduate program and love it. I have learned a lot and am glad that my husband gave me the push I need to do it. Can you qualify for financial aid since you are working part-time. I know that randy was working part-time and I am not working and I am eligible for finacial aid. I think it is great that you want to attend college and learn. I hope you hear from these schools soon. I wish you the best of luck.

The schools I am looking at are accredited, but designed to take payments. They are distance learning career courses, so not from a local community college or college at all. Though to answer your question? I probably could qualify for financial aid. I need a course that I don't have to have the computer for at all as this computer isn't made to support everything. I rememeber you telling me once before that you were in school for a graduate program. I just love that so much like that can be done online or distance learning, it's great.

I bet they really enjoy teaching via the internet, it seems as if that kind of work isn't too demanding. They probably make out the itinerary and just follow it each year, and answer emails etc, again really on their own schedules.

I am seriously considering this too. But as for me, I would like to take a course in Methods of Teaching. My son is about to start preschool next year, and I was thinking of trying him with homeschooling. It will be very beneficial for us if I'll be able to get the course.

the online schools I've looked at have teachers aide courses and one other but none that specifically says for homeschooling. It would be great for you if you could find a school that would help you with that. I had a cousin who had to be homeschooled for a few years as she was always sick, but she had a teacher come by.

I will not go for this kind of course, it is simple no experience to gain. Only the academic part, finishing it without the skills attained.
