How do you add your referral link in your blog?

I have been trying to write as a guest blogger on different sites. I was also asked to write an article for some site. I have read in many articles that they provide some links (which is not shown as a link but as phrase of different colour.) which is helpful to the reader as they can just click on that link and a separate wind will open and there the concerned site will open as a different window. I feel that this is really good thing for the readers. However, I do not know how such links can be posted. To express more clearly: suppose I am writing some blog in which I type "MyLot" and there I want to have hidden referral link of mine so that if a reader feels interested and if he/she clicks on this word 'Mylot' then that will lead to my referral link. How to do this, if someone here can guide me I will be obliged. Thanks for your support MyLotters...
