I'm sure you heard someone say before, "well, we are only humans!"
When you hear someone say this, how exactly do you feel? Do you think having the excuse being human or being weak a good excuse for making mistakes? Does anyone of you know where or when this saying originated?

Hello, better days... I think it is a form of just not wanting to accept that they may have done something wrong or that someone else may have done something wrong.
It is easier to say that then to change,or to help others change, or show them how.
That is what I think...

Hi CODYMAC, yes I would says it's about ACCEPTANCE of who we are, and with acceptance follows healing and then moving on :)

I would feel annoyed actually. I mean when someone uses it as an excuse for simple mistakes. Just like when a friend says "well, forget means don't remember at all" for something that they MUST remember. Like their jobs. So when someone uses "well, we are only human", then I would really love slap them in the face and say "well, I'm just human. I get annoyed easily" and then leave.
And I think it is not about where it is originated that matters actually, as people all over the world are the same. Sometimes we would think about the same thing at the same time. So I think it is originated within the human itself. Heheh...

I agree, and I'm sure Americans as well as Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, Filipinos, Mongolians, Africans, Alaskans and all the other countries have their own native version of this saying. In my country, it is "tao lang ako" which means I'm only human. Now I remember the 80's song entitled "I'm only Human" flesh and blood I'm made...

So I guess it's a good excuse when one makes mistakes as it reminds everyone that we are just humans...weak and easily prone to mistakes.
