Manchester united loses first match

August 20, 2012 4:52pm CST
I just finished watching the game and my team manchester united just lost by a lone goal to everton in an away game. This is pretty sad and many arsenal fans are mocking the team because of their hatred for van persie and all. But the truth is, manchester united sometimes start like this and finish at the top of the table and that's so comforting because I believe this is gonna be one of those glorious seasons for manchester united. Glory Glory United. What do you think?

at the end of the day nobody can make a prediction of whats going to happene in the next 37 games after the frist games just been played. And as for the arsenal people mocking manchester uniteds loss today, I'd keep their opinions to themselves because we know at the end of the season arsenal wont be anywhere near man utd in the table. As for the match itself, Everton has 31% possesion in the match and somehow managed to have 18 attemps, this has to be a slighty worry for Fergie thats alot of shots for so little of the ball.

The major problems with Arsenal are having a lot of possession and not knowing what to do with the ball when it matter most and their defensive naivity. I believe that the team can overcome these problems easily and surprise those who have written them off. I'm and Arsenal supporter and wish the team well this season despite the fact that not many people expect them to do well. Go Arsenal!

@Freeman229 believe me, some heaver punters and gamblers can predict as most of them do some activities that infleunces those matches. Trust me man, there's corruption too in the EPL and many matches are staged. There is ,ofcourse no proof of this yet. @emma you sound like a 9ja person.

Where do you think Arsenal will end up this year, of course we cant write anyone off really at this stage although I do beleive arsenal wont do aswell this season, but who knows, maybe there players there will out do themselves and get into the champions league, however I think it will be quite an achievement if they qualify for the europa league :) As for staging games, I hope this wont happen too much but I have heard refs can be bribd which is such a shame for the game and any sport where corruption happends.

It was the classic revenge match for United as the Everton match last season possibly cost them the title as they ended with a 4-4 draw. But Man United were stunned by a Everton 1-0 victory. As per Sir Alex, Man United could not use Van Persie effectively when he came on the pitch. It would be interesting to see how United now adapt to playing with Van Persie on the pitch. Cheers! Ram

Wow!! 25-29 game winning streak. I can understand you are a Man U fan, but aren't you a bit too optimistic here. Cheers! Ram

Yo ram, Its always like that, not every player can fully adapt to a new team, take torress for instance, they said he's millions of pounds paid off when he scored against barcelona last season in the champions league and after that scored a heart trick in the next premiership game or so, now that took some years for him to fully adapt, as for RVP, I don't think it would take him that long, soon he ll get his manutd game on and they would go on a 25-29 winning streak

Haha, but my friend you know to be on tyhe top 4 positions you have to win nothing less than 25-30 games, that was the reason why I said that, some teams have done it in the past, like arsenal, the year they got theur "gunners' tittle, when they went a whole season unbeaten, it was a wonderful run for them that year, am only saying something like that is possible with manchester united and can happen for we all to see this season. GLORY GLORY UNITED!!!!!

I saw the match abd I was in shock. How could Everton beat United? I know I'm new to football/soccer but I thought United would beat them easily. Boy was I wrong. I now understand . You say they start out slow. That explains it. It is only the beginning. No time to panic!

Wow! That is a leap! It aint over til it is over!
22 Aug 12
Exactly, its like you are reading my mind, no need to panic, hell I have seen manutd in 16th position in the 6th week of the league and they still finished 1st that season, so I guess that's just how they roll.

it is not good for the motivation of United babes.. But sir Alex ferguson is not newbie coach.. he can motivate his squad.. Everto is really not easy opponent for MU. last season, they pushed MU play draw 4-4 with Nikita Jelavic become hero

I said to my hubby before the game started that I have a feeling Everton will do well this season and it looks like they've carried on from their brilliant end to last season, so maybe I'm the only one that wasn't surprised, who knows? Great result for them though and the crowd really got behind them, not like Morgue Trafford lol.

Because it's as quiet as a morgue. You see next time they're at home; it's well known the name non-fans give them.
21 Aug 12
Okay, let's see if next week's gonna be as quiet as one .

Morgue trafford? Manuted fans are supportive of the team. So why do you say morgue trafford?

Every team wants to start the season off on a good note but alas there has to be winners and losers on opening day. The season has many games to go and many shocks and surprises so this loss is nothing to worry about. We will see some great results this season from United(as much as it pains me to say that) but let us hope this is the toughest and most exciting season we have seen in years.

I support the game

If it pains you, then I'm certain you are not a manutd fan, probably chelsea because of the long rivalry between the two sides.

The match between Everton and Manchester United was interesting and the latter were unlucky not to escape with at least a draw. The match together with most of the other matches points to one thing, this season's premiership competition is going to be very tough and difficult to predict. It's true that Manchester United seem to have a way of clawing their way back into contention for the crown, even after starting the season poorly. This year may be different. I see many "also ran" teams that really want to compete for honours this year. One feels that a team like Newcastle United is gunning for top four position this season. Totenham Hotspur too, despite losing the opening game, have ambition to challenge for the top four. One equally feels that some unheralded team(s) may be able to end the season in the top six position. These predictions make the matter less easy for Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and, maybe, Arsenal. I doubt if things will be as easy as you predicted for Manchester United this season. In fact, the team may be disappointed. It's not only big names that play football, there are many other important factors. Remember, all other teams know what Manchester United can do. That will make their opponents to put in more effort whenever they play against Man United. In conclusion, one may predict that Man United may be in the top four position at the end of the season. A team like Arsenal, on the other hand, must find ways to be scoring goals now that Robin van Persie has left the team. The team must also deal with their defensive naivity if the team want to play in Europe next season. The top four position finish is not sure for Arsenal unless there is a drastic "revolution" in the team.
21 Aug 12
From your analysis, I thought you would conclude by saying the top four is not sure for any of the big teams. Anyways , things always turn out to be in the big teams favor no matter how hard other teams try, can't say this applies to arsenal these days though. We ll see how things unfold in the next 37 games.

Manchester United had a lot of the ball but just kept passing from one to another without really putting the ball into the box or making attempts to shoot. Their play reminded me of Barcelona's tiki taka against Chelsea in the ECL semifinals last season. Manchester United seemed clueless what to do with the possession. It was a very disappointing performance. It would have been different if the few shoots that we managed were not blocked by the excellent Phil Jagielka. That was the best I ever saw Everton played. They played above themselves. If they could sustain such performance, they will be in the top 8 at least.
21 Aug 12
Top eight? I call it beginers luck, take fulham leading the league for example, sooner or later the big teams would take their respective places on the league table.

As a big fan of Manchester United, I was definitely expecting a win from the team in the first match. Unfortunately they lost the match for 1-0. I hope Manchster United players will perform well and will have a good come back in the table very soon .
24 Aug 12
O my friend, don't worry about it, if you are truly a big fan of united, then you ll know coming back to the top would be easy as they always do that. I see them in first position in week 5 of the english premier league. I'm positive about this

I think these results are less than satisfactory for Machester | United after defeated by Everton in their first EPL. Yes, what you say is true that many Arsenal fans who taunted Manchester United over this defeat because of their hatred for Robin Van Persie. But this is only the beginning, the league is still a long journey and I think this year Manchester United could end the season as champions. And Robin van Persie could lift the EPL trophy first.

I know MU usually start very well but losing a match is not a serious problem. RVP needs time to adapt for new club, although he is a really excellent player. I completely believe in a glorious season for manchester united. good luck to them
