Why do you think VVS retired in a huff?

VVS was preparing sincerely for the tests against New Zealand and then suddenly announced his decision to retire because of an inner voice. Srikant did give VVS his last chance to retire with a bang and VVS should have taken this chance to silence his critics and justified the faith and support of his board and chief selector by playing the two tests. But VVS gave into his emotions and made a mistake by jumping the gun and deserting his board and chief selector when they had already given him a chance. No one is greater than the game, not even Sachin. If he does not perform he will have to go. A true professional player would have reined in his emotions and welcomed the chance to play at the highest level once more. In comparison Dravid showed more maturity and his decision was very wise and balanced. Dravid has been wronged more than any other Indian cricketer but he has never complained, his reactions have always showed his maturity and VVS clearly showed that he was miffed and he showed it. A true professional would have grabbed the chance to play, the criticism and uncharitable comments not withstanding but VVS showed that he is human after all . Now the whole of India will watch as the most professional of them all,Sachin, prepares to write his exit script. And we are sure his exit will be as glorious as his extended career as the top batsman of international cricket. But with the exit of these fabulous trio India will have to suffer the Australia like aggression and crudity expressed by the likes of Gambhir and Kohli. What is your take?

Hmm.. I think the controversy of his sudden decision to retire was started because of Kris Srikkanth as well as lack of support from his captain... These are what the rumor mills are mentioning... Supposedly, MSD & VVS did not get along.. I am not sure if it is b'cos of MSD that VVS retired or if it was some other reason. Other rumors are stating that Kris Srikkanth told him that his place in the Indian team for any future tournaments is not guaranteed so he should retire soon. I guess these things sorta miffed VVS & he made that crazy decision to retire now.. He still had a lot of cricket in him. He was also practicing for the NZ series as well as Australia... Wonder what happened..

MSD clearly wants fresh legs and as captain he is not wrong. You know he is in a situation where after a bad run he can lose his place in the side along with the captaincy but senior players like Sachin and Dravid could continue to play and keep extending their cxareer. Maybe this is what prompted MSD to do away with older and unfit players. So Dravid went first and now VVS. Next it is the turn of the meastro. The captain is not wrong. It is difficult for any skipper to emphasize his authority with senior pros who will not toe the line and a skipper is not wrong in asking for a team which looks up to him. VVS was unfit and so was Dravid. Sachin has the luxury of picking and choosing his tours where as the skipper can't skip any tour. He has to always tread carefully with so many seniors around. MSD is doing the right thing by weeding out the older and unfit players so that he a has a young, lean and mean outfit. The great Sachin of today is good but cannot be expected to save or win matches for India and what good is such a player to the captain. People like Shastri and Gavaskar are supporting Sachin's extension where as they should be suggesting Sachin's ouster from the team. This guy Dhoni is tough and these retirements are good for India's future.

Absolutely VVS has prepared well to play the test series against New Zealand, I thought he didn't get support from Selectors, Captain so he disappointed and announced his retirement and yeah I didn't control his inner feelings like Dravid but it is not a correct way of sending a great player to our of field like this, I don't know whom I have to blame for this. Yeah obviously it will trouble for Indian cricket if Sachin also retired but I hope Sehwag, Yuvi replace them.
