What type of transmission do you have?

My car has manual transmission, also called manual gearbox. This implies I have to manually shift the gears according to my speed. What I can tell is that i start to dislike this type of transmission.I mean,it has 3 pedals, the third of it being the clutch. You need to be very careful with it:for example,if you want to shift the gears, you need to release the acceleration, hold down the clutch, shift the gear, and then as you release the clutch, you depress the acceleration pedal. If you time it wrong and you release the clutch without depressing the acceleration at the same time the car will come to a halt.
If you want to brake, again. You must hold down the brake with the clutch. If you hold down just the brake, your car will also stop.
In my opinion, you shouldn't be more careful at your car commands, but rather on the road. That's why I clearly prefer the automatic transmission.
What type of transmission do you prefer? Why?

I have a manual transmission and I love it! I don't find that you have to be any more careful than with an automatic, though you want to avoid stripping the gears. It just takes a little coordination. It is a lot more fun to drive than an automatic.

Well, coordination is a must with the manual transmission. In most happens for me to try to shift gears, and not being able to do so because I don't fully press the clutch down.
I find it extremely tiring to change gears in a traffic jam. With all the coordination, after you have sat 1 hour and moved 100 meters, you can feel the smell of the clutch.
Though,because I can't change my car's transmission,I guess I can enjoy the manual bit. :)

It is really important to push the clutch all the way down. You may need to move your seat forward a bit to help with that.
The only time I find manual transmission tedious is in heavy traffic where you constantly shift up and down every few seconds. That is a pain even in an automatic, but I still prefer my stick shift :-)

If you can avoid traffic jams you will be very lucky indeed!
