Yesterday my daughter had me cook a turkey that had been in the freezer since last Christmas. She decided it should be coked before it was freezer burned. I put the turkey in the electric roaster the night before with an apple and onion in the big cavity to keep the turkey moist. I set the roaster temperature at 250 because I wanted it to cook slowly so it would just fall off the bones. Yesterday morning after it cooled enough to handle I took all the meat off the bones.
Now I have this little knife that my granddaughter gave me a couple of years ago. It is very sharp and it stays sharp. any ay I was using it to help get the turkey meat off he bone. I finished up with the turkey carcass and put the bones in a stock pot added some celery, carrots, onions and parsnips, water and brought it to a nice simmer. I ha to lay down for a while as my back was killing me. When i went back to finish cleaning up I noticed my little knife as well as a pair of scissors was missing. I sometimes use this pair of scissors in my cooking a well as the knife.
So to day I am packaging the turkey to put in the freezer and when i get to the bottom of the bowl there is the red handle sticking out of the meat. Why I put the knife in the bowl I will never know. Any way I was glad to find the knife. Now if I could only find the scissors I will be a real happy camper.
I got the turkey brea$t in one package and three packages of the rest. I also got two quarts of broth for noodle or soup. Pretty good for a days work for me.

This sounds like really good turkey. We don't have it except for thanksgiving most of the time. It sounds like a good meal and some needed preperation for it, so, it is not too surprising you had lost your knife in the process and especially because your back was hurting you. I am glad that you found it. I hope you can find the scissors in no time, too.

Yes I tend to do the same thing, I will put something "away" but I can't remember where that spot was that I put it. I'm sure it will show up probably when you least expect to find it.

My back kills me after standing in the kitchen-or anywhere-for a bit, too. I know what you mean about a favorite knife. I have a paring knife that we got when I was married as a wedding present. My ex has the rest of the set but we agreed I could have this one. I use it every day for so many things and not just in the kitchen. I have other knives of the same size and sharpness but none feels as comfortable to my hand. I've had that knife for 25 years and would be very upset if I lost it! In fact, when I moved I kept it in a box in my car instead of sending it with the movers. Also, my dad is the one that last sharpened that knife and I lost him a few months ago (he was 90!) so I would not want to lose it now.
I hope you find your scissors!

Don't feel bad, I looked for days for my kitchen scissors about a year ago and finally found them in the freezer. I've also left them in a skillet stored in the oven and I've put a quart of milk in the cupboard and a box of cereal in the fridge!
