When I was a kid I lived with my grandparents. When I was sick with a sore throat Grandma would fix me some bread and milk with some sugar on it. Sometimes it would be toast with butter and hot milk. Some time we would have this for supper just because we like it. It was a simple meal but good too. Every once in a while I will fix my self some bread abd milk with some sugar. The same with the milk toast. Only I do like to add salt and pepper to the toast before adding the hot milk. What are some very simple meals do you fix for yourself or family.

Whenever there are left over bread, I usually turn it to French toast or if there are lots of rice from the previous night, I make fried rice with egg and hotdogs on it. Wow! Just by thinking of these foods made me hungry. lol.

I don't remember my grandmother ever fixing french toast. We would have pancakes some times with farm fresh eggs. We raised our own eggs. They were so good.

Every meal I cook is mostly simple as I don't like spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Still I can throw out meals that make it seem as if I had spent a lot of time in the kitchen. Simple and quick meals are quesadilla's, or omelet's, even just scrambled eggs with onion or bacon. As for when I was sick, it was chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese sandwich! yum yum! Some 7 up or sprite if I was really sick, and humifier and vicks vapor rub.

Sometimes I'll have cereal for dinner or even have an egg sandwich for dinner, simple and quick to make. When my kids were growing up and their dad wasn't home and I didn't feel like cooking I would pick around in the fridge and put some meat, vegetables and cheese in a burrito for the kids. They loved it and there was very little to clean up and I used up leftovers. Sometimes we'd have peanut butter sandwiches. My stepmother told me her dad's favorite dessert that sounds a lot like your dinner--buttered bread with sugar and pour coffee over it! Sounds icky to me but she says a lot of people loved it back in the 30s and 40s.
