Why our cuisine is not as popular as the other Asian cuisines?

Right now Thai and Indonesian cuisine is a craze in the west, Its growing massively like Chinese and Japanese cuisine. It makes me wonder, we have so many delicious dishes and all we get known for is balut and offals (I do eat offals but its frustrating that its our only dishes that is internationally shown on TV) we can say Adobo is kinda popular but Filipino cuisine Restos in foreign countries if more of a niche than a norm. Its not mass produced like Chinese dimsum or Japanese sushi. Filipino cuisine is an east meets west kind of cuisine, and we dont demand those hard to find herbs on our recipes, why our cuisine is not mainstream? Even Iraqi cuisine is more popular than ours, Their Kebabs is a hit to Americans,

I think one of the reason is that Filipinos are not yet considered Asians even we are here in Asia. When they say Asians, they always refer to Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Arabians but Filipinos, not. Another is that most of our dishes are just derivatives of other races. Though we have our own, we are not yet known in worldwide. Furthermore, discrimation in other countries makes Filipinos afraid of accepting the truth they are Filipinos, which should be the one to promote our own foods.

Other people counted us as Pacific islanders, another factor Ithink, Most Filipinos abroad will eat the cuisine there and wont make an effort to promote their own. Then there are other Filipino cuisine cooking show channels in youtube but none of them are english,. the most popular Filipino cooking show in youtube is panlasang pinoy, I ask him to add english subtitles but he refuse to so.

I guess it really makes a big factor, instead of promoting the Filipino dishes in other countries, they will just adjust themselves in eating the country's foods. Thoguh what you mentioned that there are cooking show in youtube, without english transcription, it cannot be tried by some nationalities.

Japanese cuisine instantly became famous in youtube because a lot of Japanese cooking shows in youtube are using HD camera and were in English or at least subtitled. The top Filipino cooking show in youtube refuse to add English subtitles, he didnt know it can give him a larger audience.

I don't know. Perhaps, people think that our food isn't exotic enough or a stand-out in the world cuisine. Also most of our dishes are are family-centered food. I once saw a world cookbook and I only found two recipes for Philippine food. I guess in a way we don't promote it at all. We're happy that our food is served only in our family home or the nearby restaurant.

that could be a result of colonial mentality guess. do know some foreigners who enjoys our cuisine.indeed we dont promote it at all. One of the most popular cooking shows in youtube is Japanese with English subtitles. Youtube filipno cooking shows refuse to use english subtitles.

Were lack of promotions and most of our chefs are learning the international cuisine rather our own recipe. We don't have international TV program that can seen all over the world.

I think in the UK it is simply down to lack of exposure and knowledge. There isn't a sizeable Filipino community and it isn't a popular destination for holidays so folks just don't know what the food is about.

there are about 200,000 Filipino British so I think there is a community but we have tendencies to assimilate to where we live, so most of them I guess adopted to British cuisine due to assimilation,
