Life Can Be So Unfair...and now I owe 7,000 pesos to my cable company

I never received any cable bill last 2011, and I have been following up this for 3 months then. Just after 2 months of subscribing, I have to cancel my subscription because I am moving away. Since my work requires my presence and I cannot take a break then (a government work), I only manage to email and call the cable company. I received an email from their customer service telling me that everything's okay and I will receive a statement if I have to settle any charges, since I have a deposit with them. I followed up until after 6 months that I have to go out of the country. Now that I am back, I got a letter from lawyer suing demanding me to pay 7 thousand pesos or $165.00 and another mail which contains a statement from the same cable company amounting to $37.50 for the balance that I have been following up since last year. And take this...it is dated 5 days after I received their customer service's email. Grrr!!! Tomorrow, we'll see. I'll have to settle this and I will never pay the collecting agency that bloated figure.

Print the email together with the response from the company justifying that they have received your notice. Obviously you have no obligations already and there is no need for youth pay. You have not benefited from the connection since you I were out. Maybe perhaps they did not update their record which only shows how bad their services are. Do not pay, just make sure you reply properly stating your reasons for non payment so that everything is justified.

Good thing I still have those emails. I do not delete important emails like this. I have printed out two sets of this. I have experienced them letting me to even make a photocopy for them, b@$tards! Anyway, I think I owe them money after they have applied my security deposit but I sure as heck not paying their lawyer's or collectr's commission.

You don't have to pay anything, just print the email and the confirmation of the email that you sent their customer service representative. That would suffice that you did apply for cancellation of the subscription. If I were you, I wouldn't pay a single cent because you did follow-up and they were too slow. You shouldn't hold your plans or your life because they cannot do their obligations and responsibilities on time. Good luck! Have a great mylot experience ahead!

That cable company is really annoying. You've been a responsible customer and have done your part. Let them eat their words. Keep us posted Raine.

Obviously you are not responsible for that ridiculous debt! The incompetence of the people in some of these places is appalling. I had a similar experience recently when changing providers. I sent two separate emails saying I was no longer a customer even though I knew they would find out who my new company was. They sent an email back that their records showed differently. Later I received a bill in the mail. Ridiculous.

It really helps if have our records kept. I also experience the same thing with our local water district wherein they are charging me of a connection fee twice. I have my own records and receipts so they was not able to charge me. Good luck raine! I hope your problem be settled soon.
