On our way to work earlier, we saw some baranggay officials and staffs planting trees on the roadside in their baranggay. I guess this is one of their environmental activities. It is really good to see such employees performing simple activities but will give impact on saving the environment. Oftenly, such tree planting activities ended at the time they planted the trees. I am hoping that the activity will not just end on that but they must also have responsibility in monitor the growth of each trees. Whenever, they saw some that does not survive, they should immediately replace it with another one. Have a good day!

Its good to hear that from people that are really concerned to our environment. Knowing that there are lots of illegal loggers everywhere around the world as well as miners who cut trees just for the sake of their own good. We should really plant trees to help clean the air and this would also be our protection when there are floods.

You are right, roadside planting can help reduce the effect of pollution emitted by the vehicles. I think they should include planting trees on the mountains too.

I love gardening. In our home at the province, I used to plant some trees in the backyard. Here in our home now, I tried to plant grafted fruit bearing trees but in an old pail only but i know, it will help a lot.

When I was in Senior years in the University, we had a tree planting activity. It was a mangrove. We planted it in the shoreline. I wonder how they are now because it's been 13 years.

I hope they are all well. That is what I am talking about, some agencies will promote tree planting activities but after the event, they will not monitor the progress of the plants already.

Hi, It should be tree-growing this time. Tree planting alone does not suffice. However, the program has done a lot of things for the local scenery: where were bald areas before are tree-lined by now. Now is the time to go one step higher, tree-planters should see to it that the trees being planted have reached maturity or the stage where it can grow on its own, come dry or rainy seasons.

You are right, tree planting, though it can help it is not sufficient. I also recommend that such activity must be more done not on the road side but on the bald areas of mountains. Like what you said, the trees that should be planted must be considered if they can survive even with minimal care during the planting season.

the trees they should plant should be Moringa, so the poor families around the baranggay will have something to eat as well, you have a tree to produce shade and stop floods and at the same time have a nutritious vegetable provider. or they can plant fruit bearing trees, Its going to be hitting birds with one stone.

I know that Moringa is a good plant, it can be easily grown but it will not grow for a long time unlike narra or mahogany or other trees that will a long time effect.

This was a good program if we are not suffering right now but to plant trees and wait for about decades or less 10 years before they will grow right now we must responsible in every action of what we have and stay alert for any disaster. We could save the environment of the way act in our daily responsible environment specially those mining establishments etc.

You are right, plating trees is a slow process but it will have a long term effect. just like what you said, planting trees is not the only way to help save mother nature. There are more simpler ways to help.

Hi asdomencil! This is one of the programs of the government in its aim to save the environment as on of the millennium development goals. In our agency, we really are monitoring the progress of the program. I hope also the people who are around the vicinity will also do their part of taking care of the newly planted trees. Everyone should do their part in order to achieve the goals of the government.

You are right, the people in the vicinity must also took their part on taking care of the trees. It should not be the sole responsibility of the baranggay officers and staffs. Good that your agency is monitoring the progress of the trees.
