she had broken the bones on one of her fingers. that was what the doctor said. i am not sure if that is the right thing to do. but anyway, i believe she visited an specialist. so i hope that it would help. she said a thin metal have to be inserted. i think it would something be like a permanent thing on her fingers. or maybe it will be taken on some days. but i am not sure. but for now we are just looking for possible doctors because the hospital usually charged a bit more than other private hospitals. although she said she is more confident on the doctors on that hospital though more expensive. so i guess she has to do her operation on that hospital then.

Without knowing more about the type of fractures or specific surgery, here are some ideas on what could happen: Sometimes surgeons put a "pin", or small metal rod, through the length of the finger in order to keep it straight while it heals. This pin usually sticks out the end of the finger, and is taken out once the bones are healed. If the bone has broken and twisted, and isn't twisting back on its own, a surgeon can twist the bone back to normal in surgery and will put a string around the bone to keep it together and another string around the bone and out through the skin to "anchor" the bone to the soft tissue so that the bone stays in place while it heals. Usually, if you see something that looks like a shirt button sown into the skin, this is what is anchoring the bone to the tissue so the bone won't twist. Once everything has healed, the button is taken off by the doctor and the sutures can be either left in or taken out. A third way is to use plates and/or screws to help keep the bones together and aligned while it heals. Usually this type of metal can be left in for the rest of your life, and is only taken out if the patient asks for it to be removed. There are many other strategies for fractures, and even more for malformed skin, muscle or other tissue. If it makes you or your sister feel more comfortable, ask the surgeon to tell you what he is going to do. Having him draw the bones, and where any metal will go will give you an idea what he is planning. The surgeon is probably offering surgery as an option because it is her best shot at healing properly. And, always make sure that the patient (in this case, your sister) is comfortable with her doctor and understands what the surgery is for, other options, and of course what to do after the surgery to help her hand heal properly. Hope this helps. :) (I work in the operating room, and have been involved in hundreds of surgeries.)

Oh, that's so good to hear! I'm glad she's doing better, and didn't have to have an operation. :) Sometimes the only fix is an operation, but when there is another way it is good to avoid the cost and risk of surgery.

Yeah I hope that she would be treated real well and not just be charged such a big amount. So I expect that she would recover much faster.

Of course there's so many kind of surgeries. The metal is meant to make the dislocated bone get back to its proper position

Yeah everything is going to be okay as it's just the finger I just wonder about the scars and the pain afterwards. Not to mention I would have to do all the work at home since she has to recuperate for few months. So I would have to stay at home for a long time. As I would need to take care my father myself alone.
