we have 8 dogs walking around our house. I wonder why once one dog howl everybody do the same thing. In the scary movies howling of the dogs indicate the present of a bad spirit, but in real world they say that it indicates that there are female dogs roaming around looking for mate.. It really scares me alot every night. what does howling of the dogs really mean?

Our dog never howled before I saw a dog howl on America's Funniest Home Videos. That dog would sit on their piano and do a serenade of sorts for them, but our dog howls when he is desperate to go out and relieve himself. He doesn't howl at any other time-when he's frightened, he let out a series of quick, rapid barks.

joicerey they are communicating something to each other and only they will know what they are howling about either.,it could mean some female dogs are in heat or it could be anything else too as I am no dog psychologist. he h e.

That is a baseless superstition, although the sound of dos howling i very eerie.. hat is just one of their ways for communicating. I read in an article that it can be their way of greeting each other or talking to other dogs, which is why when one dogs howls all the others do it too.

According to Wikipedia howling is a way for dogs to communicate with each other. It is also their way to locate another pack member or to keep strangers away. I also have dogs, 7 of them, and I find it very fascinating every time I mimic their howling and they howl back. As if I'm really speaking their language. lol.

they say if the dogs are howling it means the dog is depressed. they want to play. they want to be free and roam around in your house...
