Yesterday was a special holiday in the municipality as they were celebrating the town fiesta. What is so special with the day? Well, aside from the fact that we do not have work, there are also lots of invitations from our friends who live within the area. I still went to the office early because it's so hot in the boarding house and I can not concentrate with my work. After an hour, my supervisor came in and asked me where are my group mates, so I told him they are still at the boarding house. He asked me to tell them to come to the office immediately as we are going to visit some friends. Here we go again! Foods! I mean lots of foods! We spent the day visiting our friends' houses. Trying out every food that they offered. I was so full. This is what I like most about fiesta!

Great, I just like this kind of holidays. Holidays with people giving your food and you can thus have a great time eating the food while enjoying the holiday. Hope I can also have the chance of having the same holiday as you had.

Shows how dedicated you are with your work, and I hope your supervisor sees that. I hope it was delicious food you had, and you enjoyed yourself as well. We dont usually have any celebrations like that such Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving really.

Fiestas have been intorduce by the spaniards. If I am not mistaken, it was a way of making filipionos forget the oppression and hardship done by the spaniards way back then so they have offered fiestas so people will drink, enjoy and had fund and somehow forget the problem. They device a way to link the celebration in honor of a saint. However, now that we are no longer under the Spanish regime, we still celebrate the fiesta and of course in honor of a saint, to show our devotions, thanks and appreciations for the blessing given as for the blessings to come. Truly indeed fiestas will give you opportunities to enjoy a lot of food and different activities.

Foods are everywhere especially here in the Philippines. Everywhere you go there are lots of restaurants and fast foods scattered around side by side. That's why its hard to choose where to eat. Our fiesta here also in the Philippines is like that. There are so many delicious foods served around our neighbors house, and we got the chance to be invited. We also invite our neighbors for them to try what we have prepared for the fiesta.

Was that one day celebration? Has it anything to do with religion? I am just curious about it. On August 19th this month we also held a celebration. The same as you told me about. There were lots of foods. We visited many relatives and friends.

Town fiestas are one of the best festivities here in the Phlippines because it does not only celebrates tradition and beliefs, rather, it showcases different dishes which people can enjoy. I myself love to go attending town fiestas because I want to take part with the culture and I want to try different food from different town.

Lots of food! - Town fiesta means lots of food.
Town fiestas are usually celebrated with lots of food. And people so enjoy it. Imagine they can it for free and that is in an eat all you can basis. Every house no matter how humble it maybe has foods on the table and not just few but lots and various. It is a day when people don't mind if they spend their hard-earned money for food. Well this is very true especially in provinces. But come to think of it. Why be so lavished just for a town fiesta. Why spend that much money? I can't really see the logic. Times are hard and yet we spend that much in one day?

Actually, in the place where I came from, the people are not so fond of preparing foods for this occasion. Although we also have our own feast day, yet it is not as extravagant as what I've experienced in here. Thanks for sharing salonga!

oh wow that is a LOT of food, its been quite a time now since we celebrated a fiesta..we rarely do it now as we are on a budget and it is tiring to have all those people at home and the cleaning afterwards is something i do not like.
