people can be so mean sometimes

In this world you can't really please everybody. Some are really cruel on you, even if you don't do anything to them. In that situation, I think those people should look themselves in the mirror and see for themselves if they really are perfect. In the other side, this serve as a lesson for the girl to dress up, next time she'll have a presentation.

Those people are just bullies. It really saddens me when these things happen. She is being picked on because the bullies can get away with doing it. It was extremely rude not to listen to her project.

She should be given another chance. It's not her fault but fault of those judgmental people around her. Hope she will be given a second chance.

There are really people who are not concerned on how others would feel about their acts. I remember my mother would always remind me when I was young, if we can not say anything good better to zip our mouth.

Yep, people like that are everywhere, not only in school but even in an environment where everyone's considered a professional, like in a workplace, shallow people who only care about looks still thrive. There's nothing much that we can do about them and their attitude but we sure can do something on how we react and act around them. I may have not experienced getting this kind of treatment but I'm friends with some who get this, and we just don't care. For us, we have far better things to do than care for what narrow-minded people think. They can stare and talk all they want but me and my friends will be so busy doing our best in our jobs. Just imagine the look in their faces when my friend got promoted and even ended up being the boss of some of them.

Yes if you look at from a statistical viewpoint people and the world have always been vile and cruel. Now I am not saying that all people are that way. For there are still kind and caring people you just have to selective when it comes to who you want to be friends with. People who are rude and insensitive are really just insecure about themselves. So they feel the need to pick on others.

There are just really people who are like that. And sometimes they turn out to be mean because of past experiences that they've had. I don't believe that people are born bad. They become like that because of bad experiences as well.

Awww, that is just awful. It's as bad as these punky kids that go around bullying all the time...poor girl. Maybe you could sort of help her out a little and talk to her more? She might feel better if she knew at least one person likes her a lot and doesn't care what she looks like. When I was younger there were a couple girl friends I had that were a little bit plainer than the other girls and I was good friends with them. I can't believe the teacher just let all that whispering happen without saying something to the class. I would have put a stop to it or sent the whisperers out into the hallway. So sad.

What a horrible situtation for any human being to be in...YOu are right, people are so mean. I see you are pass school age so if anything you are talking about college...You would think that college students would have a little more respect for others at that stage of their lives.. But I am glad she eventually got through her presentation,, I just hope there are some decent people there to make her feel better.....

These high school people are just trying to fit in so bad... they compensate their being not talented in anything and unique, so they stick to mocking people just not to be the one mocked. And they are so superficial. They are going to fall down from their ego soon. I was usually that type who would reassure these people who they are picked on that they are valuable people. There was a girl once in my class picked on for nothing, just for fun, and only 3 of us were on her side... tragic. Bullying should be banned.

I totally agree with you swissheart, people are mean. They don't even bother to look at themselves first. If only there were "few classmates" that seriously give attention to what she says, it'll give her the courage to continue. Tell her to be brave, and make friends with her. Teach her how to build her confidence infront of the crowd. I hope you make best of friends :D Happy myLotting!
