I've read somewhere that you could start educating the baby while still inside the womb and that is possible by playing music that teach kiddie lessons like abc, counting numbers and the like. I have no idea if this has scientific basis but i think there is no harm in trying.

There has been studies that while you are conceiving, you may want to listen to classical music. This helps stimulate the mind of the child inside you. This is called the Mozart effect. But it has really not been proven to be true. I think a child, while still young, with supportive parents and a lot of educational toys and books around could make a child smart. Of course, there are exceptions for geniuses. The cause of this is still not defined clearly.

First of all, CONGRATS!!! I am so happy for you.. Now, as far as making the baby intelligent, though that is a good quality for a child, we should love our children whether they are smart or not. Plus, some are geniuses and some don't know it because of some physical problems, but I am sure you will love your baby regardless.. First take your vitamins and see your doctor regularly. Next, to have a healthy baby, is no more difficult than making sure you are healthy. Eats right, especially fish like salmon, and many fruits and vegetables, if you can, eat as much organic as possible, your baby doesn't need the pesticides. Finally exercise! The only exercise you should not do is lifting weights, but anything from walking, to swimming, dancing, (yes even aerobics, where you jump up and down, as long as this was your previous activity). With my last child, I had been dancing before I got pregnant and continued all the way way until about 1-2 weeks before I gave birth. I was in such good shape, I had visited this group of women 2 weeks before delivery, then when I saw them again 6 weeks later, they were shocked to know I had been pregnant before..So I strongly suggest, if you were active before, do not slow down, but only if you were active before.. Oh, and my child? He is 10 and his last testing, his scores were either close to the top, or at the top, he is very bright!!!

Yes, but you have to consult with your OB-GYN with this. Don't just take any vitamins or supplements without consultation. Your OB will have many suggestion to tell you for sure. Anyway, its your baby and you should take all the necessary precautions including what type of food & supplements you should take.

Before anything else congratulation my friend, I know the feeling of an expectant mother or should we say parents.I don't know about the intelligent thing but I guess the best who could answer this is your doctor. They are learned enough to know what is best for the baby of a pregnant woman. I would suggest to regularly check with you doctor, eat nutritious foods and take vitamins prescribed by your pediatrician.

Take lecithin. It it proven to increase memory in people. Also,it has very good effects on the blood vessels,in the sense that stops plaque from depositing.I would also recommend Ginkgo Biloba. Also, don't forget to eat enough proteins, carbohydrates and fats.Proteins are the "building block".Carbohydrates are the fuel.Fats are good for enzymes, neurons.

I don't know if it truly is possible...but I know any read to their baby before it is born and also play certain types of music...back in the day when I was pregnant you didn't do things like that....now I do think it makes a difference.

I don't have children but I've heard that many pregnant mother put classical music for the babies and they read to them while they are still pregnant. It's is said that babies might respond to the music and that they can feel/hear it! First of all though you should take good care of yourself, so that the child has everything that it needs until the birth!

As others have mentioned, listening to classical music is good. I think it has a calming effect on the baby. Calm is good. Also there is a book you may be interested in. The link is www.amazon.com/Born-Smart-Jeanette-Bolvary/dp/1409252388/ref=la_B008B4ESZ0_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346069194&sr=1-1 It sounds like an interesting book. Also nutrition plays a big factor in brain development. A good article on nutrition is here www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutrition_and_pregnancy It also cautions about using vitamins - you must read the label and take them only as directed for pregnant women. Although vitamins and supplements are good for everyone, it is different in the case of a fetus - too much, too little, you have to read directions. I hope this has been helpful to you. And good luck. I hope you have a very smart baby!
