Does Team India need to make any changes for the 2nd Test?

Now that India has won the first test comprehensively, it is time to look forward to the 2nd Test. Pujara and Kohli have staked claims to take the places of Dravid and Laxman respectively. But no player seems to be staking serious claims for the spot vacated by Ganguly. The likes of Yuvraj, Raina and Rohith have failed to make the most of their chances so far. Do you think it makes sense to make some changes to the team for the 2nd Test and drop Raina or do you think Raina should be given another go at this position? Cheers! Ram

Sehwag and Gambhir were struggling against Kiwi pace bowlers on a slow track,as we all know that opening is very important in any form of cricket especially test cricket.India has young and inexperienced players in middle order, openers getting out early and exposure to new ball can cause a collapse.Keeping in mind that Indians will be facing Anderson, Broad and Finn later this year,i am not sure about this opening combination. Its time that Sehwag should give up as opener and also some solid player should come in place of Raina, like you mentioned correctly Raina has been tested and he has been big failure against swing and pace.Like great Ganguly mentioned many times after hammering in England emphasis should be to prepare a team which does well overseas. This team may have beaten Kiwis but still they are far from being a competitive team when they tour.

Hello grvdubey11, I think it will be a controversy decision. Because there were rumors about the skipper and Sehwag. And if Dhoni decides to do so, medias will be exaggerating the issue .

I as a cricket lover would like to see some fast bowling treat by Ishant Sharma.Yes, he has been out of team for long time now, but he is a serious talent that BCCI should look into future and give him a go. However we have seen good display by spinning duals Ashwin and Ojya in Hyderabad. Now action shifts to Bangalore, who again spin is prominent but still Ishant inclusion in playing11 will do good for team and Ishant himself. Coming to Raina I don't think he will be dropped from playing11, because he deserves a couple of opportunities after good one-day series against SriLanka.

Yes, Ishaant seems to have gone completely off the radar. But at this point it would be difficult to drop either Umesh or Zaheer who are both doing good. If India decide to go in with 5 bowlers then Ishaant can get a chance. Cheers! Ram

I think no need to change the team structure and droping Raina is not make sense because he played just one innings and he played well in the ODI series against Srilanka, I think we have to see another couple of tests, if Dhoni wants to give a chance to some young people then they can make a changes.

I think there is no doubting Raina's utility in the shorter forms of the game. It is only his test pedigree that is really suspect and despite repeated opportunities he has not been able to pin down his spot so far. Cheers! Ram

Hello ram_cv, I don't think that Dhoni will change the current playing eleven for the second match. I think we can give one more chance to Suresh Raina. Even though he was not good in the first, it is his responsibility to contribute something to the team total .

I think Dhoni will do exactly as you say as he would not like to change a winning combination. Cheers! Ram
