Just some of the civility the left has asked for.

Ellen Barkin Hopes Hurricane Kills 'Every Pro-Life, Xenophobic, Gay-Bashing SOB' At The RNC Read more: http://nation.foxnews.com/ellen-barkin/2012/08/28/ellen-barkin-hopes-hurricane-kills-every-pro-life-xenophobic-gay-bashing-sob-rnc#ixzz24sIjuWr1 Samuel L. Jackson on Monday tweeted it was "unfair" that Tropical Storm Isaac had spared the GOP convention in Tampa and appeared to be heading for New Orleans. heres a whole list for your perusal. http://www.humanevents.com/2011/08/06/top-10-unhinged-liberal-attacks/ Wow this is the "kinder gentler" party. These are just a few examples. Nobody says anything. Lets talk about Akin and his VERY bad abortion comment http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/20/politics/akin-political-fallout/index.html Now the whole GOP has distanced themselves and nobody is claiming to agree with him. Yet STILL the media are trying to tie his comments to Romney and the like. How stupid do they think Americans are? Or are they?

Just because a few radicals say inappropriate things is no reason to brand an entire party or side. Were it the other way around, some on the radical right, though not many, would wish the storm would wipe out the left at the DNC. Don't take it so personally.

A few radicals has become the entire party. So much so that moderates are leaving the Democrat party by the droves. Even to the point of campaigning for the GOP. Ever hear the saying 'one bad apple....'?

And I might add, I am sympathetic to the Original poster for complaining. The Democrats are very vehement in their assertion that the Republican party is the party of hate and lack of compassion, it is perfectly normal to point out then, that Democrats are the haters and have no compassion, is it not?

It is becoming common in Australian media to see comments from retired politicians and statesmen, top-line political commentators, and the better credentialled current affairs gurus pointing out that politics in this decade is the dirtiest, most partisan, most extreme (both ways) and lacking in any redeeming features that we have ever seen in this country, and reading this forum here it would seem the same applies in the US and the UK. I repeat, so as hopefully to avoid getting into the normal pissing contest this forum becomes, both sides. Politics has become so polarised it makes one muse about possible civil wars breaking out. I see your point and I agree it is both sides. Here in the US, it seems the media is very biased and there in lies the problem for me.

I have never felt that Fox is left leaning. But I do know that they are more likely to have both sides of an issue than other mainstream media types. In the states, the left seems to have newspapers and cable shows. While the right excels at radio shows and internet sites. Other independent groups are hard pressed to squeeze in there, but they are there. There are sites that a lot of people follow, Mother Jones, Ron Paul etc.

Media is always biased. There are whole schools of media studies now which have analysed media ownership, philosophy, morals and ethics, and so forth, and all of them come to much the same conclusion. Media is owned by billionaires of usually the most right wing tendencies, and their editorial stance, most of the time reflects this. The left/liberal side gets clobbered, and I know you Americans think Fox News is leftish, a belief that has Australians howling with laughter, but it just ain't so in real terms. What's worse, so far as I am concerned, is that visual media has been brought down to the level of the lowest common denominator, reflected in 30 second sound bites that are completely unsuitable for anything that isn't conformity and which thus eeds explanation to be understood; anything off the main stream, like Green politics, struggles to get any sort of reasonable coverage, and most of what they do get is incontrovertibly ideologically biased against them. Independent media suffers lack of decent funding and is constantly attacked by right wing politicians and gurus. Lash

You just don't understand. It is wrong for Anyone to criticize the Liberals and what ever one Republican (or anyone that might be tied to the TEA party, Republicans or Conservatives) applies to all. Look at the Colorado Shooting the media tried to tie it to the TEA Party. When Congresswoman Gifford was shot the media tried to call the man an extreme right winger but his writings and comments were more Marxis. Saying that more people are on Food Stamps under President Obama is now being consider a racial slur, why because the liberals know what you ar really thinking, they can read your mind. no Liberals are free to say what ever they want and it is alright or even considered the truth. They can even lie and it is accepted as the gospel truth. The Democrats ran an add that showed a man who looked like Paul Ryan pushing a wheel chair and dumping Granny over the cliff. When in fact his plan changed nothing for people 55 and older. Another classic is when Senator Biden was asked about then Senator Obama and refered to him as a clean articulate black man, that was just Joe being Joe. But when President Bush was asked about Senator Obama he responded that he had seen him speak and he was a very articulate speaker, President Bush was making a racial slur against all Blacks.

I understand why you would be upset about these comments. The thing is each side never calls out their own side when these types of comments happen. They just call out the other side. I am not just talking about when high profile people do it, but many people do not call people out hear on MyLot when their own side says something like that. I guess its OK to say these things as long as the person has similar views as you.

I disagree, I showed twelve examples of liberals bashing uncalled on. One simple issue where a republican said something stupid and the whole party has moved away from him and yet the media is STILL trying to insinuate that the GOP agree with him. makes no sense.

That's because it seems like its something new each month. Whether it is the birther issue Rush Limbaughs' "sl!t" comment, the rape thing. It has been going on since Obama took office. No one really pays a high price so it just keeps happening and now it looks like you guys are rubbing off on the left as they seem to be doing it more.

I think a few people have to realize that this kind of garbage talk could blow up in their collective faces. I personally right now have difficulty watching American channel news programs. I'm Canadian and I don't recall ever hearing such unbelievably biased programming in my life. Some of the remarks we hear are just horrifying.

I agree with you both. My point is that the media gives a pass to liberals while pointing out the conservatives time and again. I would just like the left leaning media report more balanced.

Hear, hear and both sides are guilty of it. There is just something wrong with this country. We sound like a bunch of spoiled kids.
