Polar Music Price was founded in 1989 by Stig Anderson, the manager of ABBA with a donation to Royal Swedish Academy of Music. The price goes annually to one contemporary musician and one classical musician. This year Paul Simon got the price. He is not only a great musician, but a very humble person and he loves children and has been in childrens programs, which he appreciates very much. Here is one of my favorite melodies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcNyNC-Os54&list=AL94UKMTqg-9C5E4KdvNkQZot3kn7GKrZn&index=10&feature=plcp Do you know more about Paul Simon? Which song is your favorite?

Hi, I wonder where's Art Garfunkel now? They used to be real partners with the guitar, Paul Simon picking up the melody while Art do the counterpoint as in "The Boxer." It was my favorite since High School, especially the lines: "When I left my home and my family I was no more than a boy in a company of strangers..." That was when I left home for college right after graduation as a working student on one of the big schools in the city quite far from my hometown.

A friend of ours always said Hobo always reminded her of "The Boxer" for these lines... "In the clearing stands a boxer And a fighter by his trade And he carries the reminders Of ev'ry glove that layed him down Or cut him till he cried out " If you want to see a picture of Hobo, he's in my photos on the Wanted Poster.

Paul Simon is indeed a great musician with high moral standards. He has done a great many fantastic things throughout his life, so deserves to be recognised for them. I always loved The Sounds Of Silence that he did with art Garfunkel. I like many of their songs, but that is my favourite of his for sure.

I think I prefer some of the beautiful early songs when Simon & Garfunkel sang together. If I had to pick a favorite, I would pick "Flowers Never Bend With the Rainfall" I think it resonates with me on every level, especially when I first heard it. I was confused about life and God. Thankfully, later I discovered the truth and have no more confusion. Close first comes: "April Come She Will" "For Emily Whenever I May Find Her" "Bookends" "The boxer" "I am a rock" "Homeward bound" Etc.

Wow I don't think I could list them all here! When I was young and it was new at the time, I LOVED Cecilia - got the 45. For those young folk, there were single records run at 45 rpm, we called them 45s. Loved Mrs. Robinson, too. More recently I grew to appreciate Late in the Evening because of a Live performance of it on You tube which I'm too new to copy and paste.
