...keeps the doctor away,an old man saying tells us.Well,we take for granted what food we eat,but we don't think about it that much.
At the time this man coined this proverb, natural food was easier to produce and get hold of,and people weren't this many.
Nowadays we tend to listen to this proverb, although we don't have the slightest idea of how our "natural" food is made.
Let's take bananas, for example."They have a whole lot of potassium.Eat bananas".Well, maybe they had.Darn, maybe they have. But how could you be so certain, when bananas are taken raw, green and by the time we eat them they turn yellow. They aren't harvested when they're matured.
"Don't take vitamins.Here,take this apple".
We really need to know what's happening to us.Fruits and vegetables aren't what they were 50 years ago.Vitamins are good, because they may lack in our diet.

Not everyone can have a vegetable garden, but when possible it is a great addition to a persons diet eating home grown naturally ripened vegetables. My parents have a vegetable garden with tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce etc and the taste is totally different. The fact that the vitamins and minerals are available in both, only extensive testing will say if naturally or organic vegetable are more nutritious then industrial grown vegetables but at least when it comes to taste, there is a major difference.

Yes,I have felt a completely different taste, comparing home grown fruits and vegetables and industrial one.Regarding the second one,you really have to trust them. You don't know whether they're genetically modified or not.You don't know in what conditions were they grown. That's why I will always choose a home grown vegetable than a industrial one.

Yes, you are right. Fruits and vegetables were all organic before. They were healthier to eat compared to the ones available now. Also nowadays, their costs is already high. They are more expensive than vitamins already. It's up to us if we'll buy fruits or vitamins. Happy mylotting.

I think you're right!Vitamins are becoming less expensive than the fruit itself.
Well,I guess the main reason to know how much nutrients do fruits have,is to send 100 of them to a laboratory and make an arithmetic mean. That way,we can get the medium amount of nutrients per apple.

There are far too many people who choose not to really think about the foods that they're eating, and as a result they become overweight and unhealthy. The bad thing is that a lot of those people don't even realise why they're overweight, because they have never been taught about food and they just don't understand that if you eat more calories than you burn, you're going to gain weight. I was once very overweight, but it got to the point where it was having a serious impact on my health, and this meant that I decided to do something about it once and for all. I have now lost over 100 pounds in weight, and I have never felt better about myself than I do now, so I am very glad that I have done it.

Well,as far as I'm concerned, weight gain is the least of the things that await you if you don't eat healthy. You could get as sick as an obese person, without being obese at all.
But you are right, obesity is a marker. It is a symptom widely seen among people who don't care about their food. And obesity may be the main reason why people choose to have a healthy lifestyle.

Well, nutrition is very important in one's diet. I try to eat fruits and vegetables almost every day of the week. While sometimes it doesn't always turn out that way, I do remember to take daily supplement and vitamin pills every morning. Overall, keeping healthy not only what you eat, but it also should consist of exercise. I know everyone has their own busy schedule. But even walking for 20-30 minutes for a few times a week also helps.
