I thought I could make a million dollars before I turned 20, am way past that now and I don't have close to a million dollars in my account. So does this quote actually work?

I know a Chinese proverb that touched my soul:

Awww this is a very interesting quote, one more question, are you sure this is from the chinese origin? It very much looks english to me and maybe some english or american school of thought coined it out. So tell me, how certain are you about its origins?
