This past few weeks it really hard for me to manage our weekly food budget because of non-stop price hike due to past calamities and oil price hike. The vegestables, fish and meat has almost the same price and we do not have nothing to do with this but to continue to purchased healthy food and bear this situation. Good thing when I talk to my husband regarding to this matter he promised to increase our weekly food budget starting from tomorrow.
How about you my fellow friends? Do you find hard to manage your food budget nowadays? Do you also add some money for your food budget? Thank you for sharing....

What we did is we used to have our weekly menu list. In this methods you will able to buy only what are needed and will not end up spoiling veggies.
Just like what you observed, the pricess of meat, veggies as well as fishes are almost the same.
In our case, when it comes to foods, we really used to follow what we need and what we want btu still we consider the prices.

It really save time and money. Just thinking what to cook without menu is already time consuming. Sometimes, our weekly menu is not followed on the right schedule but we just switched it. The weekly menu serves as a guide for our weekly food as well as for making a market list which really helps in buying the only things you will need for the week.

We have just been eating more frugally and more carefully - less meat, more produce from people's gardens. We're going to have to think of something to do as winter comes and it gets harder to get produce.

Hello cutepenguin, like you we also eat more on vegetables and less meat but the nowadays here in my country the price of the meat and vegetables are the same, I am juts hoping that my vegetables in my pots will grow faster so that I can harvest and eat them as soon as possible. Thank you and have a great day.

Bhebe, our weekly food budget had increased since from last year. Nowadays, i spend more on veggies rather than on meat and fish. Since we plan not to increase our food budget anymore. It is because recently the prices of meat and fish had increased again. So, to maintain a good budget we have to buy more veggies and eating healthily. Even we had cut-down our consumption of extra snack. Hope you are able to plan well your food budget...

Hello myfb2009, this morning I already finished our weekly food list and removed unhealthy foods like junk foods, soda and frozen processed foods. I am hopping this plan will works and help me to save again from our weekly budget allowance.

The price jumped hhere as well, and Im sure it will continue to jump. I think its ridiculous of the cost of food in general then the healthier food cost double or triple what the unhealthy process food does. Luckily, I only have to feed myself and my 6 brats.

hi. it is really a challenging job for moms like us...food budget management. I agree with other mylotters to think of recipes that is budget friendly and healthy at the same time. I also do the same in planning a weekly menu to save time and be on the budget. I also make sure that if I can have a recipe with less ingredients, I do include it on my list. enjoy cooking and marketing. :)

Our food expenditures have stayed fairly stable since we got a CSA share. Through that, we get a lot of fruits and veggies, and the price was already locked in at the beginning of the season. I buy some additional things at the farmers' market and some of the small, local stores around here to round out the offerings from the farm, and we purchase fresh bread and some baked goods at local bakeries.
I try to maintain a fairly local diet. We do purchase things such as orange juice and coffee that have travelled great distances. However, most of the rest of the stuff is fairly local.

I have been seeking new ways of saving money on food, yet having a healthy diet. We can use a lot less oil which is expensive and our food will be healthier. All veggies can be eaten either raw, steamed or sauteed with almost no oil. I use very cheap cuts of meat to make soups, minestroni and even booil bones (good broth) and get the little meat out of the bones for wonderful mixed salads with potatoes, carrots and some raw greens.

Good day Bhebelen14,
As I heard on the news that the prices of commodities are really increasing tremendously. This is because of what happened for the past months. Due to rains and typhoons, Food Dealers need to raise the prices of the basic commodities such as food. As an effect, the prices have really gone high. And this doesn't stop there, the budget that a household usually do, it will also be affected. Just like what you have said, you need to make another adjustment. And not to mention, this will also bring an effect to the salary. Since the budget will increase, expense to be deducted on the salary will also be increase. It is a domino effect.
