What to do with a nonrefundable and nonrebookable flight reservation?!?

Oh my, due to my husband's transfer to a new company, we have to change our travel plans for the remainder of the year. He doesn't like to go on a long leave while he's still new and on probationary.
Unfortunately, we scheduled a HongKOng trip in October (he's official first month in the new company). The sad thing is that it was a promo fare, and part of its restrictions is being non-refundable, non-transferable and non-rebookable.
Just my luck!!!

Right. Nothing to do but accept and regret, but move on and plan better for another trip soon.

Well of course it's very confusing, well, when you are going on vacation together turns your husband will start a job in the new company. One side is disappointing because it could have canceled vacation plans, but the other side if the husband should stay anyway. Then what you do, pakah still go without your husband? or cancel vacation?

I would not want to go out of the country without my husband. I think we'll just really have to cancel this trip and plan better soon.

Your husband should have mentioned he had booked a vacation for October at his interview. I did that when I had bought a flight to Italy and intended for my trip to last two weeks. Now it looks like the promo flight was a waste of money. Maybe you could go on your own for the trip to Hong Kong. Then at least you will be using one if the tickets. You could forget the original booking and book afresh another trip. It is a shame you are not having great luck. Good luck making a decision.

I told him that before, but he himself decided to just cancel the trip, because he doesn't feel comfortable taking the leave when he's just new in the company. Apparently, we also scheduled the trip on the last week of the month, which is a critical period for his new job.
I also thought of just me and my daughter pursuing the travel plans, but I don't think we'll enjoy it without my husband. And, I'm also not very comfortable being in another country without him.

Been in same situation when we booked a promo fare summer of the other year. I booked for five, my 3 children, a nephew and myself. My nephew however will not be able to take the flight due to a commitment that he needs to attend to. well we have no choice but to book for a new schedule for my nephew at almost double the price and we went ahead of him. We were even kidding that we availed the promo and paid in advance months before the scheduled flight thinking we could save but it turned out otherwise.

Reading the first line, i thought you had to cancel the reservation for 5 people. That must have cost a lot of money. Good thing, only 1 needed to be rebooked. For my case, we have to cancel the whole booking for 3. Although, its a promo fare, and is lesser than the regular rate, the total cost is still a good amount that we could have just used for something else.
