I am enjoying watching the paralympics online. It is so inspiring to see athletes with disabilities competing and proudly representing their country. People with disabilities are just like everyone else, we just do things differently. I am disappointed that the Paralympics are not broadcast in the US. Please share your thoughts.

Do you have NBCSports? It's a fairly new sports network. From September 4th through September 9th they will be broadcast on that channel.

Although NBC plans to do a recap when it's all over, you can watch the actual paralympics on NBCSports network next month from the 4th through the 9th. I have no idea why they aren't doing every day.

They are going to be broadcast on NBCSports channel from September 4 through September 9th. Unfortunately, you have to have cable to watch that. I am very interested and disappointed they aren't airing every single minute.

I am proud to say that we have a representative for the paralympics in our country. I think they are on the swim team. I think it is very inspiring. People can still do it even when they have disabilities. It means that life is still good and we must appreciate it in whatever form.

Yes, you are right my friend. Truly they are very inspiring because despite of their disability they still manage to live a normal life. They never see it as a hindrance to continue and fulfill their dreams in life just like in joining the paralympics. For me all of them are winners because of their determination and perseverance. Wish them the best of luck. :)

I think Paralympics is broadcast here, but I haven't watched it yet. I did see some photos about the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympics and it is quite splendid. I don't want the games since I will feel a little sad to watch the disables to "run", "play balls" and so on. It is really not easy. I love China

Paralynpics or Olympic for the disables is a special events of sports to encourage the disabled people. We should have special feelings for them. It is unfortunate that US and many other countries do not broadcast live this special game show. They should do that.

Americans want to believe all is well in the world and that no one has disabilities like the folks who compete in the Paralympics (when did they get this name It used to be the special olympics!) so proudly. They do not want to see people with hardships over come them they would rather ignore they are there. I see it anytime we are with our nephew. He is 5 almost 6 and has cerebral palsy from being born 17 weeks early. He is in a wheel chair and his hands are beginning to claw. When we are out we usually get one of two reactions. Those who stare openly and those who try to get past real quick and not look like it might be catching or something. I am an avid supporter of these kids doing sports and in fact used to teach Karate to disabled children and adults, none with mental issues as they often cannot understand being hit even in a dojo setting but many, many with canes (these where adults or elderly folks seperate from our kids), wheel chairs, walkers or prosthetics. I got a letter form one (sent to the Dojo years after I left) he had CP as well and walked with braces and two arm crutches. He thanked me and another teacher for teaching him to defend himself. Now at college he has no fear of walking around campus or going to parties. He had one altercation where another young man tried to jump him for his computer (lap top in his bag) he was more then capable of defending himself and made quite a name for himself on campus. I was so proud of that boy or should I say young man. I makes me cringe to know people will attack these people as they see them as easy victims but my students (we had 7 kids and over 20 adults in all over 5 years) will always prove them wrong.

I wish that the Paralympics were broadcast in the United States because it would be something that I would really enjoy watching. When I was a young lady, I volunteered for our local Paralympics because I did have one really good friend that was physically disabled and I helped to support it because of the fact that there are so few things that people with disabilities are able to do around here. I would watch the Paralympics because I feel that the athletes that represent their country in the Paralympics are much more heroes than those that represent the country in the Olympics because Paralympians have to overcome a lot more to make it to the level that they do in their sports.

I've been seeing various posts and photos on Facebook about it. I applaude all the paralympic athletes!! Exactly, they do things differently - and bottom line is they CAN do it! My daughter's tae kwon do master was telling us about a girl who got her black belt - and she did not have arms. But she did it!!!

I think it's a shame that it isn't broadcasted. And it's a shame that sponsors don't back this event up. I think that if people want to see a 'triumph of the human spirit', it's in the paralympics where this is abundant.

I don't understand why Paralimpics isn't as popular or big or worthy of exposure as the regular ones... they, these athletes strive with the same passion and dedication and insane willpower... and then... why do TV channels consider the regular athletes and olympics better or worthier to broadcast? :(...

Hi Manda, I wish the paralympics were aired here in the US. Airing the Paralympics on network TV would show the audience that these athletes are no different from those who compete in the main games. It would also be a major step toward equality for all people with disabilities. Have a great weekend!

Here in my country, the Paralympics is broadcast, but in not so many channels that the Olympics Game though. But, still, who likes can watch the games live. I think it's wrong not broadcast the paralympics, because it's part of the Olympics Game and these athletes deserved the same respect than the others athletes.

The idea of the games for the disabled started at Stoke Mandevile hospital in Britain but the Chinese that are supposed to have such a bad record on human rights are certainly showing the rest of the world just how good they are. Considering so much money is necessary to support disabled athletes are they really so uncaring.
