Pasta is a carbohydrate, therefore it produces sugar. It might be bad for diabetics to be consuming more than the amount necessary.

Actually, in the United States health experts recommend avoiding pasta. With all of the carbohydrates that turn into sugar, we are often warned to eat pasta sparingly. And if we do eat pasta it is recommended that we buy the whole grain kind. I love pasta, but I try not to eat it too often.

Hello my friend sukumar794 Ji,
Well, I am DM2, but never take PASTA or anything of taht sort. As a vegetarian, we take maximum home made and without any restriction. I have stopped taking sugar free also. I have never taken Insulin so far. Being restricted also causes disease. I maintain my sugar level. Only I take 'bitter-gourd' juice two spoons almost daily alongwith GLIMIPRIDE 4 MG DAILY.
May God bless You and have a great time

I agree that pasta is very yummy. For people who have heavy workd and therefor need lots of carbohidrates it can be very important. You can eat pasta instead of rice or wheat as staple food. But for that same reason, It is not a good choice for a diabetic. The less pasta a diabetic eats, the better. There are other carbs that are better for them, namely legumes.
