There are films and there are classic films, take for instance Total Recall, the original was good in it's time, there were some rather comic book special effects, but the plot its self wasn't too bad, now we've got the re-make on the way, the trailers show a huge improvement in the special effect, I will watch with interest, but I already know the ending - probably. Where as a classic film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, or Mary Poppins, or Singing in the Rain, or Ice cold in Alex, Gentlemen prefer Blonds, there is really no point in re-making one of those, they are 'made' by the cast, you watch the film as much for the actors and their ability as the plot, change those actors and you're sunk. Then there are the almost re-makes like war of the worlds, where the new film uses the circumstances, but not the characters. In summary I'd say ther is a place for re-makes, just don't dare touch MY favourite films !

I think they make movie remakes so that people will come to like the movie again. They could also add some twist to make the story more interesting. Great movies before deserve to be acknowledge again nowadays. The type of movie before was very different from now, and so if they will make a remake, it could be a hit because of its content. There are some remakes that I loved but there are some that I hated. Happy mylotting. :)

Because the producers want big money quick, and the film studios want to bombard us with "new" and "new" films... the more films they release, the more money they are going to get. Using an earlier script saves them time. I hate this practice, to be honest. I'm all for new, original ideas.
