We know that what we eat have a big effect on our bodies. Some food we eat helps us lose our weight, while others helps us gain it. Some food are good for the heart while others are good for our kidneys and other different internal organs. How about food for stress, do you know some food that helps you fight stress better? Why do you think they are effective and what do they do to our bodies that helps it fight stress?

I am unsure about foods that actually fight stress. What I'm going to put are the foods I like to eat when I am feeling stressed - which is likely NOT helpful except for that short time when I do. I like to eat cheese when I am stressed! I don't know why but I always get a craving. Sometimes I won't eat it though because too much is not good. Then I like soda and I know this one is not a good idea. Well I hope someone has some valid idea of what is healthy for stress and not just that it helps you feel better for a minute!

Haha, I can easily associate with what you're saying here. Soda is one of those that makes me feel much better when I'm not feeling good but I know it is not very good for our health and I can see my weight gain when I drink soda everyday so I try to avoid it and look for a better substitute for feeling good when down. Maybe if members would suggest healthy and delicious substitute in this topic, that would be very helpful for all of us. Some of these healthy and delicious substitutes I could think of now are delicious fruits, real fruits made into juice and coconut juice. Can anyone of you add to these list?

Yes, green tea is well known as an antioxidant but I didn't know much about black tea. Salads are usually full of vegetables so I would guess they are great food to fight stress. I did have a lot of greens today in our lunch so that is why I felt good now.

Oh I've recently gotten to try coconut juice and it was great! I would drink that more often if I had some. I would also add green tea for me, I enjoy a good cup of green tea and it has antioxidants. Black tea is also good but I think I prefer green tea. I also enjoy a nice salad sometimes and that helps me feel better. I realized recently when I hadn't had a good salad for awhile, the next time that i did... I ate the salad really fast. I must have missed those greens!

I heard milk is such a healthy drink and I drink it myself, but I remember that the milk that I liked the most are those pure milk and not those canned or powder milk. I guess that is why it's important for babies to drink their mother's milk because mother's milk is so nutritious for them.

I think that it depends on the perception of the one eating. Some people get some stress relief through eating a lot. So all kinds of food for them are considered stress buster. Most popular stress buster food will be those comfort food that may be different in people. Popular comfort food is ice cream, cakes and chocolates. I think desserts are the most common stress buster food there is. But if you are talking about completely fighting out stress through healthy living food, then vegetables are the way to go. Especially those rich in iron. I don't know, but I believe that iron helps fight stress.

It's easy to understand what you are trying to point out, AgentGulaman. I myself have my own comfort food whenever I don't feel good, but I'm not sure if these comfort food are really stress busters...maybe temporary stress busters but because most of them are unhealthy, they can give our bodies more stress later on. But you are correct again pointing out vegetables as the way to go, and I could include fruits in this category. I didn't know iron are good in fighting stress. Thanks for that new knowledge.

I'm sure what you're mentioning is your comfort food...the food that makes you feel good especially when you're feeling bad. Chocolate could be one of the most popular among them, and others are ice cream etc. So I guess these stress buster food are not always the most healthy food, but they do seem to give you immediate comfort...lol.
