I've never been put in this position so it's tough for me to say for sure what I'd do, I'd like to think I'd continue the pregnancy but it's tough to say. If you were less than 3 months pregnant and you learn through the ultra sound or blood tests that there is a serious condition with your baby such as down syndrome, do you think you'd terminate the pregnancy? I hope this doesn't offend anyone, I appreciate all responses.

In 2007 I was offered an abortion at 36 weeks pregnancy. I found that very offensive and I was extremely shocked. In pregnancy and afterwards I love my baby no matter what is wrong with him or her. Luckily with great medical care in today's world in my home country means a poorly baby can be made a bit better.
In a scan in 2007 they found extra fluid. I was told go upstairs and a midwife will explain what is wrong with your baby. The midwife said I am sorry but your baby might not be life compatible. She arranged for me to go to a city hospital to see the fetal medicine expert.
That day at the hospital was like a nightmare. It involved more scans, seeing the maternity unit and seeing the special care baby unit. I was told my baby has spina bifida and hydrocephalus. I let him be born and have lovingly cared for him since. He is now 5 years old, in a wheelchair and requires catheter care.
Even if I had found out at 12 weeks pregnancy I would still keep my disabled baby. I know some down syndrome children and they are lovely. Every child deserves a loving parent and he or she hasn't chosen to be disabled.

Again this is a situation wherein it is "different when you are in the real situation"
It's easy to place our comment- but it's hard to tell when we're experiencing it in real.
I don't even want to think about it.

I am not sure how accurate the test result come out stating that the fetus is definitely going to have a Down Syndrome going to be in the first three months, if it is a 100 % accuracy and a test that doesn't produce fauly negative, then i will say it will be a hard decision that can only be make by that pregnant woman to choose between keeping her baby or abort it. It pretty much depend on the condition of her and the baby and also the financial position she will be in at the time of the birth. Other factor may have come into play other than the above factors, the law regarding the abortion and the medical treatment she can seek for her future baby, all these need to be taken into consideration before she come out with the right solution/decision on hearing that desvastating news. I am sure she can make up her own mind if that happen, without me second guessing her decision and acting like i am all knowing of her condition and real time situation by telling her to terminate or keep her pregnancy, there are multiple complex factors at play here that need some deep thought before she should do whatever she decide to do.

It's difficult to say how someone would decide if you have never been in a situation like this. I also think that it depends of many factores like which kind of complication the baby may have and which possibilities do you have getting a baby under this condition. What I mean is you first need to know the circumstances and after you take the decission which is very, very personal and respectfull. Independently from the decision a pregnant mom takes and even if another person does not agree with this decision she took, we always have to respect, because finally it's this pregnant woman who has to live with this child or not and not us. So, how would I decide? I don't know. It depends of the circumstances and I would recopilate first all the information about the desease and after studying all possibilities, then I would take my personal decission.

It would be heart-breaking to know that the baby inside me growing has that kind of problem. I do not think I could terminate my pregnancy just because of that. My conscience would not allow me to kill my child.

that is a huge crime,we have to keep the baby irrespective of any kind of disease,so we have to treat it at the earliest to make sure that prevention is better than cure
