Is the Godfather good?

I always hear lots of people referring to it, and in some movies and tv series too. Bu isn't it just a movie about gangs or mobs.. HWta makes it so good that it is still referred to after a lot of decades?

The Godfather, 1,2, and 3, are named by many places, as some of the greatest movies of all time. IMDb, a website that is held up by movie fans, where the people are in control of the ratings, has the Godfather as the 2nd best movie of all time (just behind the Shawshank Redemption).
However, on my side, I've never been that big on them. The first movie I found kinda boring. The dialog is good, but the images in it are just so slow, and the movie went along so slowly... guess I just don't go along with the average...

yes..a lot of movies of that era ..moved rather slowly..
u have to watch it back in 1971 to actually follow the same slow flow of the film.. will look and feel boring for the 21st century..
many film that i liked from ages ago. today..bores me ..lol

Godfather..means similar to an adopted father figure for a child..or someone u will adore or respect as a Father within a family or clan..or even outsider or close friends of the family..
in this film case..its the head of a mobster family//Corleonie..

it is a good series that alot people like to transfer into their lively hood , id say , GF 1 and 2 were good, but 3 just didnt do it for me personally , 2 if i had to choose is my fav , simply alot of important stories were going on at the moment im glad a series like that will never be remade . A true hollywood saga.

I liked very much The Godfather (the book by Mario Puzo) and the movie they made out of it was very good too. It´s about the mafia and it is very well written. I don´t much like best sellers as they are usually written with a simple plot and a predictable ending. Some bestsellers scape this and the Godfather does. The movie secuels were very good too, although I´d have stopped at the second.

hi..Lady.
the basis of this movie is ofcourse about Italian Mafia..and Mobster family..or organized crime in general..but was relayed thoughtfully by the actors..Robert De niro.Marlon Brando.AL pacino.. and executed artfully by Director Francis Ford Coppola..making it an excellent movie..not just a random gangster film with slim plot.. GODFATHER is in highest dramatization that people would pay attention to..and well written storyline by Mario Puzo//
The movie won oscar for Best picture..and few years later the sequel GODFATHER 2 also won best picture.a feat only the Godfather movies can achieved.
..try see all 3..while u still can. a piece of american(or the world)motion picture history.
