What do you do with Gift Cards?

Being in the US many of us receive gift cards either virtual or physical for gifts or as rewards from sites. They say there is $41bn worth of unused gift cards at any moment in the US of which about 40% will never be used for various reasons.
I am curious to know, do you use all your gift cards or if you have no need do you pass it along as a gift to someone else? I know many people try and offload their gift cards through one of the many sites that purchase cards at a reduced price.
I just recently started offloading a bunch of my cards I won't be using within the next 12 months as there is no point keeping it around when I can make some quick cash.

It's quite understandable that most gift cards go without use.. they for the most part serve more as a coupon rather than its actual use, and its size isn't very convenient.
Thankfully, I earn electronic gift card codes so I won't have to carry them all the time.

The size of a gift card is the same size as a debit/credit card which most Americans carry anyway. I prefer virtual when possible. Amazon for example I get in both forms but I just log in and add the balance to my account and throw away the gift card.

I had a whole pack of them in my purse, and I finally either used them or gave them to somebody who could use them. Except one. I have a massage gift certificate burning a hole in my purse. Hm....

You can donate your unwanted gift cards. It's a site called gift card giver. They give the cards to people and organizations in need.

Thanks for sharing. I myself only focus on Amazon gift cards so not many to spare
