The official end of summer

Well, it's 12:36 AM here, and that means that Labor Day is officially over. That also means that the summer of 2012 is gone. To me, it's just another summer wasted. I didn't get to go anywhere, and I really didn't do much of anything. Because of my multiple sclerosis, I can't really tolerate high heat and humidity, and of course, we live close to a canal. It also rained today, pretty much all day. And because I was out for about six hours in the heat and humidity walking, I paid for it today by sleeping a LOT. I was incredibly lethargic, and pretty lazy. I was lucky to even have gotten up earlier. Since we live in an apartment, we didn't even have a BBQ; there's no place to have one, even if I had felt like cooking. Did anyone get to have a BBQ, or attend a pool party, or get to go to the shore? What sorts of fun things did you have planned to have a last hurrah for summer?

No, I moved here away from everyone and everything I knew nearly two years ago. I really haven't had much of a chance to make friends, outside of my old job, and my boyfriend works opposite hours, so I don't really get to spend time with him either. The heat and humidity aren't helping me either-I have multiple sclerosis, and that's the worst thing for me. Where do you live? I live in northeastern PA, but I was from NJ, just outside Philadelphia. Now THAT was unbelieveable amounts of humidity!

I'm living and working in Dubai. So you can imagine how hot it is here too. Now, winter is starting and it is getting cooler. I love it when this season comes.

Are you originally from Dubai? I'm not good with humidity; combine it with heat and I basically wilt. What do you do there? What's winter like there?

It's suppose to be Spring here already... But the last few days still feel very much like winter with the cold stormy winds and rain... Hope the Fall/Autumn season brings more joy for you...

Sishy-where do you live? I love springtime, although the first day is the anniversary of my mother's passing. To me, it means rebirth and growth. I'd probably love it more if I didn't have such severe allergies! Is spring your favorite season?

My summer was actually splendid. I have brought my family to a great vacation site and we enjoyed a lot. Sometimes, I wish we could have done those activities before such as river rafting, overnight at the beach, mountain trekking. My child enjoyed them so much. Well, there is always another summer. Perhaps by then you can surely do what you want to do.

I'm so glad to hear it was splendid! Where was the vacation spot that you took your family too? Our last outing was marred by inconsiderate people and my having health problems. I used to love summer before I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis; now, my body rebels against me whenever it is hot and humid out. Perhaps next year, we can try taking a short trip to a cooler area (or one without humidity).

I'm so sorry your summer was a bummer. It's horrible to feel like you didn't get to do the things you wanted to do. All I can say is that if you want to do more with your life, then just do it, starting right now. Maybe it's not too late to enjoy your summer activities. After all, it's not like comes the 1st of September, suddenly the climate changes to freezing immediately. Fortunately I'm in the Southern hemisphere, so for me, Spring has just started! It shall be followed by a glorious summer. And I'm going to learn from your mistake and go out there and do!

I would participate more, but the weather keeps me indoors most of the time. I have multiple sclerosis, and a combination of high heat and high humidity affects my ability to walk. If I could, I'd much rather be in a more temperate climate. I'm in the United States-wheredo you live in the southern hemisphere?
