Interesting Theory

In talking with a friend about the current presidential election, he told me he already knew who the winner of the presidency would be. When I asked him how, he stated that you always know the winner based on who the big banks are backing. Now I am not sure on this, but he says the big banks (and some big corporations) in 2008 were backing Obama and now they are backing Romney. In theory they back the candidate who makes the most promises to do things for them whether it is publicly or in private during special fundraising dinners and more. By this theory, Romney will win the presidency this year. Now I don't support either candidate, but if this theory holds true, is there any true democracy? Is our voting based on how much money we have flashed in front of us? This leads to wondering if people vote for a purpose or just for ceremony and the big banks and corporations decide our president for us. They say money talks but should that be the only thing talking when people are in doubt about the future of the nation with either candidate in the white house. My views are that they already pay off the media to speak on behalf of upholding one party and belittling the other party. In this aspect, their supporters only listen to HALF of the story rather the the WHOLE story. Would it truly be a stretch to think that the people with the most money decide who will be in power and the rest of us have no say in the matter, but are told we do in order to avoid the masses rising up against those who truly decide their future and the way they want the country to go?

They say that while democracy may not be perfect it's still the best game in town. Well, if it's the best game in town, Gods help us. Until we have the balls to revamp democracy to suit the needs of the 21st Century, things like testing all candidates not just for honesty and integrity but also for intelligence, experience, qualifications, and most importantly of all, an ethical sense, and things like restricting the terms for all elected positions, restricting the amount of money allowed to be spent on elections, banning lobbying, and demanding and policing full disclosure of all financial interests, this sort of cynicism is going to continue. At times I even find myself envying the Athenians their limited franchise, although I certainly wouldn't agree with the form that limited franchise took (like women not being able to vote, quite unacceptable). this is not democracy but montarily a deal for the goverance and chair.how ever if you get true democracy then you will feel worse than the heaven because my personal thoughts based on deep study and observations is this that democracy is the world's biggest stupid way of government.it was proposed by aristotle around 2300 years goo and we still accept it.

I don't know about banks determining the election, but I've heard that the candidate with the most money to spend on his election bid has a better chance of winning.

It is the candidate with the most money, usually wins 94 percent of the time. That's not just the Presidential elections, but every election in the US. I was going to bring up the point of that's gratitude for you. Obama bails them out and they are going for the other guy. Except it would of not matter who was in office. Every politician would of have bailed out the banks whether they were Democrat or Republican. Obviously they do not like being told that they need to stop screwing the American people. Obviously they do like being told that they need to show the American people how they are screwing the American people. Obviously they do not like that policies were put in place so they could not screw the American people as much. Obviously Romney has promised them something or else why would they be backing him. This is why nothing ever changes in this country because these types of things keep happening. Sorry got a little off subject but back to your point. No, I do not think we have a true democracy anymore. It is pretty much rich people and rich corporations buying are government so they can do anything they want. The sad thing is most Americans don't care or they think this is just capitalism at its finest.
