I am leaving the country next month. It might be permanent or temporary. So today, I thought of having a farewell party with my friends. I am thinking of giving them something to remember me by. One of my friends, asked for my favorite cologne so i'm giving that to him. I want to give them something that I own. So i'll be going over my things that i won't be bringing with me. To my family, my husband will be getting my iPad2, my son the sony vaio and my samsung galaxy s2, will be giving my nanny some of my bags and the rest will stay in my closet till i get back. Have you ever given any parting gifts to anybody? What made you choose the gift?

That is such a sweet gesture. I bet your family and friends loved their personalized gifts and would really take good care of them when you're away. It seems that you're going to be gone out of the country for a while. Is that some sort of vacation or is it work related? As far as parting gifts are concerned, it's the other way around. I usually get the parting gifts from friends who have to move away and have to be gone for months or would be seldom visiting me when they get the time. I've gotten bags, clothes, accessories and other stuff from them. The only thing that comes on my mind was that one time when one of my cousins admired one of my earrings. And without any doubt, I just gave it to her because I haven't seen her in years and might not be seeing her again for more years. She's very dear to me since we've had fond memories when I was younger. As for your trip, I hope you'd have a great time wherever you might be going and I hope you'd still keep in touch with your friends here in Mylot. I'm pretty sure you're going to have a lot more stories to share to us, more topics we can discuss.

Yup. You're right. It's always good to give something to special people to remember you by. Anyway, I hope you'd have a great time there and enjoy every day of your stay wherever you may be going. Good luck!

It's both for pleasure and work. I might just be there for a month but if I like it, then i'll be staying longer. It really is nice to give something that they'll remember you by. Who knows that might be the last of me they'll be seeing.

Why don't you meet me in the airport instead? It would be better to hand them personally to you.

Hi toni The selfish friend in me says - you should not leave as if you go, you will be away from MyLot and I have many friends on my list who have gone away from me... But, then, I hava a better friend in me too, who says and wishes you Good Luck, Good Health, and A Safe journey. The good friend also asks what about the family when you are away? And what about the turn-about of things in case you get a permanent stay thing at the new place? Well too many questions that this good friend has... but somewhere deep within he knows you have planned everything out for good of all. I have only gifted once as a parting gift to a close friend when she got married. It was a necklace that she always wanted to have. We had been great friends at work during the 5 years of our college(we were more into charity, community workshops and such stuffs instead of studies) and today she is in a different country working for UNICEF.

Hello Sid! I might be away from family and friends but not from mylot. You would still see me here as I made sure that I have internet to where i'm going to. I have also inquired on my phone data package which is very important with me, because I don't want to have a smartphone and won't be able to use the function to its full extent. Which means I have internet wherever I go with my phone. As to my family, we already planned for their visit in case I opted to stay in that country. I couldn't bring my son along because of his studies, but he could always go there during vacation time. I won't be that very far away from them.

I have never given anything as a parting gift to anyone. But I remember asking my boyfriend then the last shirt he wore. I asked him that coz I knew that it was the last time that I was going to see him. There were problems in our relationship and I knew that it was bound to end soon.

Hello, How sad to see you going, but i'm sure you'll still be in myLot. anyways, is this a petition matters or work related? Parting gifts, were very common these days, for a remembrance of your friendship and companionship. But in today's generation... with internet and all those online stuff... those assorted high tech gadgets that are around, it seems you are just going next door. It's just so easy to get you connected. Me, I never have given any parting gifts to anyone, but if I will be given the chance? I might be sharing my email add. hehehe . . .

I definitely would still be on mylot. I know I'll stay connected to my friends, but it won't be the same being near them when they need a shoulder to cry on. I won't be able to enjoy partying with them as often as I would want to because we might be seeing each other only once a year.

During my first left the country I don't enough things to be given to my family and friends but now my second time, I think most of it I will give to them. Most of my favorite perfume that I bought in Saudi, all of them they took already. Not problem for me. I will buy again soon when I arrive in Qatar.

I"m thinking of giving some of my dress to one friend who likes to party. Some shoes will go to a gay friend who has the same shoe size with me. He always love the brand of my shoes since we have the same taste. I have given him two pairs already, one was Diesel and the other was a cheap one from Girbaud. I will be missing all of them, but I could come back home during the vacation or they could go there and visit me instead.

I give my Hugo Boss perfume to one of my friend. The other one ask my Guess jeans, which I like most. It was given by me one of our American guest in Sheraton. Because he is my best friend so I cannot refuse. My brother ask my NIKE shoes. My Lacoste shoes somebody asked it but it's for my personal. They can't force me.

Yes i am D. Originally, i'm planning to stay only for a month. I'd like to test if I would like it there or not. If I'm comfortable, then I'll stay there longer. Will be coming home for vacation only.

Well, despite my ripe old age of 37 years, I have not had the opportunity in my life, to get away from home, if only for a few days of vacation. Of course, when this happens, I have to say that I feel very miss my family, so that in this respect I wrote myself a question, calling me a mama's boy! Now you're talking about gift to make to the family. Because at the moment as I have already said, my being away from home has always ended in a few days, I thought it was not even necessary, to give my loved ones a goodbye gift! (at least for the moment)

I received a nice and trendy Kenneth Cole watch from my Dad last year when she left for the U.S. It was a surprise gift just for me. It simply remind how valuable time is. Show our love to everyone while we still can. I love watches and therefore one for the books

I wanted to give something that I already own. That way it would be more meaningful to them and they'll always be reminded that I had once used that and they'll feel my presence somehow.

Oh, I'm happy and sad to know about your message.Happy because I believe that you will go to a place where you can find a better future (I don't mean that you don't have a better future here, it just that there is what we called greener pasture) I'm sad because you will be living your family and friends for a long or short time but I guess it's more than a month. Your husband, son, friends and nanny are lucky because I think you are a giver kind of a person. God bless you more! I never give a parting gifts for I never experienced that but I do always give some of my things specially if my siblings like it. I have to give it even if I like it as well.

Thank you so much. I won't be actually be very far away from them. If they decide to see me anytime, they could just pack and go. And if i miss them, i could do the same too. But I think parting gifts are necessary for my friends because I don't know what their future plans are too. They might one day decide to venture to another country and we might not see each other anymore.
