I recently came across a saying,'God loves birds,so He invented trees for them.We love birds,so we invented cages for them.' What do you think is the difference between our love and God's love?

Wow! I think the difference between the two is that we obviously "love" in a very selfish way. Then again "we" have had cages for people at times in history, and I am not referring to jails or prisons.

Exactly canellita,we keep birds in cages not because we love them, but because we want to entertain ourselves by enslaving them.We are possessive and selfish.God is love itself.Love frees, selfishness enslaves. That's the difference between our love and God's.

Quite an interesting thought, and saying and in the same type of words can mean completely 2 different things as well. Our Love is different than Gods as he made the whole universe and controls life one by one, where we usually just have a couple things in life to love and share our time in. We would be too worn out if we had to know everyone and love everyone, so he takes most of the work from us. We just need to remember to show kindness and Love and compassion to everyone we meet.

Exactly,KrauseHome,we can't take care of the whole universe.God can and He loves all of us who are His creation. One thing more.God wants to make us free. His love frees us from all shackles. Our love binds, enslaves. We expect something as return for our love. Thanks for sharing with a nice response.

I think it makes sense hearing what you've heard. That's the reason why no one is isoland including all the creatures living in this world. I feel good and it has be a reason to stay at that status.

Exactly.Nobody is isolated in this world.God is always with us,because He loves us irrespective of whether we love Him or not.We all are His creation,His sons and daughters. His all encompassing love does not leave even the smallest creature in this world alone. A nice comment.Thanks.

Hi, You are right. God loves birds so he has created trees for them. Birds can fly happily from one tree to another happily. They can enjoy free life. We love birds and we invented cages. We are very possessive. We love birds for our happiness and we don't care about their happiness. We are very selfish.

Thanks for a nice response.Actually we don't love birds or animals. We want to captivate them.Love does not captivate.Love frees.Selfishness and love can never go hand in hand.We are selfish.God loves everything and every living being He has created. Thanks for a thoughtful response.

We dont put birds on cages because we love them. We do it because we are attached to them. They are enslaved. There is a huge difference between love and attachment. Love is supposed to set you free. There should not be any obligation no expectations. Nothing. Attachment is the total opposite. We expect the bird to sing beautiful to look beautiful and THEN we will "love" them. So its a very big difference.

Absolutely right. We keep birds in cages not because we love them, but to enslave them for our entertainment or for some other purposes that may be anything except love.Love frees, not enslaves.God's love is unconditional in true sense of the term.It is beyond any condition and all encompassing. A nice comment. Thanks for sharing.

We are created in the image and likeness of God. However, our egos are earthly and want to possess things. So we build cages for the birds. That my thought anyway.

Exactly. We are egoists and selfish. We captivate birds in cages thereby depriving them from flying in the open sky.Due to our ego,we are possessive by nature and we like to keep birds as our captives. It's not love.Love frees.Selfishness and possessive attitude enslaves and that's what we like to do. Thanks for a very good response.

very interesting question. i think the difference is very very big. God's love is giving, sharing, providing, while our's is selfish and conditional.

Exactly namiya,God's love is unconditional. He loves us whether we love Him or not.We are human beings. We have our own weaknesses and limitations. We are possessive by nature,God is not.Our love generally enslaves our loved ones whereas God's love sets us free. Thanks a lot for a nice and a well thought comment.

Maybe it was different for the love of God to his people is no favoritism and is very loyal. but if you love that man could be indiscriminate and and picky sometimes apply unfaithful man.

Right.Going by the saying that I have mentioned,God's love for us in all encompassing. It is for all of us and completely unconditional.God does not discriminate. He loves everybody whether he is loyal or disloyal, faithful or unfaithful, loving Him or hating Him,believer or disbeliever, human being or any other creature.God loves all His creation. Thanks for sharing.
