We were out today going around to some garage sales and then when we went to park somewhere there was a burning rubber smell that seemed to be coming out from under the car. Later on we stopped at a few others and it got worse. Then stopped while on the road and started again. My dad just got the brakes fixed last week. What do you think this smell is from? Is it from the doing something to the brakes? He flooded the brakes today after we got home and them smell got even worse, he was testing them out. The car is at the shop now but I wonder if someone thinks they know what it could be just to get some other opinions?

There is a coating on the rotors that the mechanic should clean off before installing them. This will cause a burning rubber smell to occur for about 3-5 days. Then it will be gone completely.
It was a good idea to take it in to the shop in case if might be something else.
Most likely it was from the rotors and the scent will dissipate real soon.
