At this late date even if they, the doctors or someone, comes up with the antidote, there is no way for enough of it to be made much less distributed in time. There isn't even enough time to take care of the main characters, much less the whole town. It would take a ton of it to do the job by putting it in the water based on the amount we have seen used by Joe, Jr.
