Today, in my city a young woman of 20 was walking across a large intersection on the north side of town. The light turned red so she stepped out to cross the street, the other cars came to a stop but one car hit her head on.
He was speeding, maybe 60 km/hr in town suspected he went 100km/hr.
It was a 90 year old man. When she was hit head on the people around the scene watched her fly in the air do several 360's and land on her skull.
Last word, she is in serious condition in a life threatening coma in the hospital. Amazing she is still alive. Charges are being placed though I dont know what yet, she may die. This girl could be my age about to turn 21 or 1 year younger than me, maybe I know her that I'll find out.
A very sad day and a very preventable day, I think this man should live out the rest of his life in jail.

As what my driving instructor told me, a driver's license isn't only a privilege, it also comes with responsibilities because you are not only liable for your own life while behind the wheel but also those other motorists with you and pedestrians that you will pass by. The way I see the news over vehicular accidents, it seems like half the people who have licenses shouldn't have been issued one. I really don't know how they find it cool or exciting to be speeding or breaing every rule there is. If only they're the only ones affected I guess it's up to them. But it becomes a different story when innocent lives are also put on the line.

thank you, ive seen so many accidents im afraid to drive at 21 i dont have a liscence and i feel like if i did others would get angry at me for being too careful --- another thing that needs to stop itll prevent accidents. ive always thought too liscences should be re-issued more often as far as driving tests and medical, eyesight. may cost more but what does a life cost?

That is so sad. The mad who hit her is already 90? Wow and he drove that fast? I wonder if he could still see well enough to even drive a car.
There was once a proposal in my country to put a limit to age driving not only to minors but also to senior citizens. I think there should be a restriction because at that age, they might not be able to have their full senses in driving. Too dangerous not only to themselves but to others as well.
In this country there's a law though that at the age of 70, we can no longer put the man in life imprisonment. Old age is an exempting circumstance. How sad.

wow thats really interesting, im not sure of any age exemption laws here i dont think that is fair. if it ends up manslaughter you should get the same sentence regardless of age. just like it should be regardless of race, gender, etc.
i do think some limits on age in older people will be helpful, at least health checks especially eyes. not all 70+ are fit to drive and people are living longer and longer may not even mean to be speeding!!
i wonder if youd tell me which country? im in canada

Driving slowly will not only save other people's life but also the life of the driver. One month back I was riding my bike at about 40Km/hr and the guy in front me applied his brakes suddenly and I had to do the same. The road had several stones and my bike slipped and I sustained some minor injuries. If I had been going at a faster speed,I would have hit the vehicle on front of me or may have been tossed out of my bike and sustained major injuries.Even though we are careful enough to drive, there are some things like slippery road, sudden stop of other vehicles and such things that we cannot control.Only way to protect ourselves from such accidents is to drive slowly so that what ever may be the situation, because of our slow speed,we can avoid major injuries.

Oh my! I hope that poor girl gets healthy as soon as possible, the chances look slim though. But prayers work wonders. And yes that man should be sued and put in jail for not being caring enough.
