Yes Books! I will be going to a birthday party later and it is a baby's 1st birthday party, so i thought of giving the baby early beginner's book.. lucky i have a friend that sells baby books, from toddler books to almanac for kids and the likes, i sooo love being at her store as i love looking at all those colorful books for kids and i love the smell of new books too! I even saw one that is like a big books which has so many crafts in it that is for little girls, i am planning on buying that one next time.. i purchased 2 books for the baby as a gift. i am planning on going back there next week to buy my own kids books too, i purchased 1 story book for my kids and i will read them stories later!

I too have been a book lover since my childhood. My parents would give money to buy good books I wanted to read.Even now I want myself to be surrounded by books.I have a home library of my own and it consists of books that are on my choicest topics- history, wild life and politics.Besides these,I love to read religious books as well.I lie to give books as present.

I think that there are far too many people in the world who take books for granted, and don't ever bother to pick one up because of this. It was my birthday just a couple of days ago, and two people bought me books which I am looking forward to reading. Because I recently treated myself to a few new books I have a pile of books that are waiting to be read, and I am hoping that they are going to last me until Christmas when I can ask for a couple more books from my family and friends. We can learn so much from the books that we choose to read, and this means that we shouldn't be taking them for granted at all, and we should be looking at them whenever we can.

Hi dear.. Dont mind. I think you are too late to this interest. I have my own library of books and tried to obtain books since my childhood merely story books and comics. It is nice to know that a birthday has made you interested to have a plan to purchase books in coming future. Have a nice time.

Hi jazel You mean those thick, fat books which are mostly having 100s of pages I cannot even lift them now Seriously, if I had a better resume, I would have been working as a librarian somewhere and if I had enough money - I would have a special floor on my own house for the books. There are days when I really want nothing to do but read. Unfortunately, I cannot read due to lack of patience - I mean it is daunting for me to read those 100s of pages only to find out what the ending was. But yes, I still have a few collection books of stories from O'Henery, Lev Tolstoy and a select few hindi authors. btw, you can also read them to me, I would love that as its been ages anyone read me stories or sung lullabies for me

There is an Italian saying: "a book, food for the mind." Children with the books you mentioned, all those colored with various themes, discussing any topic, in my opinion, children are more than welcome gifts. Even our relatives who have small children, usually in their celebrations of recurrence, often receive a gift of books. Maybe they are too small, have yet to learn to read well, but these books are well structured, so that the child who receives them, it is always thrilled to receive such a gift.

yes it is a beginners book my friend, so it has more pictures in it, very colorful ones and less words of course..and often times kids do learn fast that age! My son's love the book i had given them and can identify most of the pictures in it.

I bought my friend's kid a few language books for his birthday. He's 7 so a lot older than the baby but my friend told me about how his son is showing an interest in languages. But overall I really do see the importance of books in childrens lives even nowadays with technology and computers, children often forget about books and don't turn to them. So they turn to what the media and internet provide for them. Books as birthday presents are really good ideas in my opinion.

Hey same here, I feel calmed in reading books. Any type and any time. I love reading them. I am more of a fan of fiction and kids books. This hobby, I have adopted only a year ago and I have realized that its a good time usage. I learn and I feel happy. What's bad in that ? ;)

For me it's a great gift for a child. I bet everyone's gonna give him/her toys or clothes as present. It's nice to start introducing books at a young age so it will be their habit. =)
