Today me and other mylotter went to an Indian store to buy some herbal seeds for her mom. The owner is very accommodating and also introduce us other seeds, herbs and where to buy other products. We're paying our items when bhaby remembered that a nearby Indian restaurant is just around. The cashier voluntarily give us the direction where to find the restaurant when someone butt in. The man says' "it's just near all along this avenue.Just go left when you get out and you will see ANIMAL HOUSE, it's near the place" I look at him and bhaby says "ahh, ok" So,we go left and walk straight looking for the landmark "Animal house" Okay, fine we found the Restaurant, but the "Animal house" is still a way far from the place. There are other commercial stores nearer which I consider a better landmark. Well, not too bad anyway at least we found the restaurant or else ...? Next time I will bring a map with me Enjoy weekend everyone jaiho®- bought Indian stuffs today (^_^) 9-08-2012 7:40pm Saturday PT

in the situation like you have been, i will also ask direction from somebody near the place. but when the situation is like, something that i have to go to a place in a specific day, like going to a trip or attending a seminar in a place i have never been before, i rely on the map. i see to it that i have the idea where the venue is and the places surrounding it, before the specified day that i have to be there.

hello brother, I agree, checking the map before going to a stranger place is better than regretting :p It better to have a little knowledge about the place than wandering in the darkness May I ask for the nearest beach in your area

Normally I won't carry a map as the chances of travelling on normal days are so rare. I used to ask the exact place if I reach the location somewhere nearby. Of course, if I am totally in a new place, I would obtain the map prior to my journey so that I can get an overall idea about it. As you said, if we ask the pass-by people they may point out the exact place, even though they never heard of it. hahaha (one of my discussion 3 years back) and some people are so smart enough to lead us to the exact place also. Any way, I used ask 3-4 people for a better understanding and this can be avoided, if someone is just fooling us. Still I remember that once I was direct to a place by two people in two directions, so that I had to ask a third person to get the correct place where i want to go! Anyway, what you bought from the Indian shop and what seeds?

Hi Jai, The is not relevant to your discussion: Just for a change, when I did a myLot search with 'jaiho2009', I got the following search results: "maharlikah (823) 3 years ago hi back again, grabeh na surprise ako naka 1559 ka na dri heheh..salamat naman at hiyang ka na dito.kumusta na si mp5 mo?d na yata ako ..." Anyway, I know this is part of your earlier myLot discussion only, but what is it meant by? Regards

i prefer using maps, and do it lot, while travelling, but there are still some areas where maps wont work, in such place i don't have any option except to take help people , any thing is okay for me, as long as its good to reach my destination without any problem. But yes sometimes we cant blindly follow the peoples choice, they may be wrong sometimes, and it teats our patience.

I remembered back when there is a time where the map isn't helpful to me due to no updated info. Then, i have to ask for help from unknown peoples and making myself becoming dizzy. But, last to last i am happy still able to reach my preferred destination.

hello prashu, When travelling, it is always good and advisable to bring map with us. Yes, people may help us but some people are not that good when giving instruction that may lead us into trouble (sometimes) Have a great weekend

I normally ask rather bringing a map, sometimes map are very confusing. Specially maps are only street signs no landmark when we are looking for some stores or establishments. It happened to me one time I found a store online and I also print the map where it is located but we are confused even the taxi driver because the one who designed the map is in a wrong direction.

You are right my dear, landmark is the best way to find what we are looking for. GPS is also very handy but sometimes when we are in a hurry, it's still the best to ask other people. Just make sure to ask the right person or else- you will be directed to the other planet

hi jaiho this reminds me of my husband who would rather have driven in circles than admit he is lost and ask directions to the place we wanted to go.I on the other hand did ask directions and some people can make it clear and precise as to how to get there while others send you on a wild goose chase til you do find the place you are looking for and the landmark they tell you to look for is some two miles down the road. When we thought about it keeping a road map in the car was the best idea yet.now howeve i have been widowed many years so no more fun pickup rides.

If I'm going from one city to another, I use a map, but if I'm trying to find a place within a city, I usually ask someone.

Jai sis, i always put a map in my car for reference, in case i am interested to visit some places which is not familiar to me. But, when i still can't locate that certain place through my map, then i have to stop around and ask people for direction. Sometimes, when i don't have updated map of certain area, i feel stopping down and asking people for direction is much better. But there are times when some people giving wrong direction and makes me dizzy. It makes us have to move around and keep asking for direction from other people. Well, there is a time, when i wanted to visit one new shopping mall in a different town. Me and hubby had to asked nearly 20 peoples, to be able to get the correct direction. It is the most tiring experience that i ever came across.

dear sis Oh, yes, it's annoying when people are giving us the wrong direction. I don't understand when do it, I mean, they can simply say they don't know the place instead of giving wrong direction. But yes, we cannot avoid asking people for direction when the map looks too complicated as well. Glad to see you again dear sis and have a great day

Sometimes I am doing both. When I already look at the map I am still asking the person. But it also depends on case to case basis there are times that I am using the map or even ask the person.

I am a map person definetely. I hate asking and getting wrong directions. I always carry a subway map if taking the train or googling addresses in order to get it right if I'm walking or driving. Some people just tell you something to make you keep moving.

hello tangled, I agree, it's more complicated and annoying when people give us the wrong direction. So, it's still better to rely on a map or GPS if it is available in our mobile phone. Have a great weekend

I would normally rely on the map first because everything is in print and it can't lie. I would only ask someone for directions as a second line option. Sometimes if we rely on people to give us directions, they might tell us unclear directions or give us directions even though they are not 100% sure (just to appear "knowledgeable" ). Well, if I am driving, a GPS would be another option that would be reliable too.

hello lian, GPS is also reliable and handy. but since the place we are looking for is just near from the store, that's why we ask for the direction. but I agree that map, GPS are helpful. Asking people around may help as well, if they can give us clear and precise direction. Have a great weekend

MAP while driving I am better off asking the people around. I know some play pranks but then, it is all the more of fun unless I am not in an emergency situation. When I am in a new place, I try to have a map of the city but then maps do not show / help you locate everything.

We're not driving anyway. Actually, I prefer to commute when I am not sure with the direction, to avoid road problem (violations) Especially the place that me and bhaby go is the strictest city in Metro- there's traffic enforcer everywhere (yes, as in everywhere, every corner, every street, every hidden place, every building, every road...everywhere) so, even the slightest road violation won't be spared- hehehe

Over here I can easily find locations using map or GPS because the roads, streets and landmarks are pretty much structured. But I've been to places even in a capital city such as Jakarta where map or GPS will not work. You just simply have to ask someone who is familiar with the area for directions because what you are looking for may not be formally listed on a map or GPS.

Whenever I have to go somewhere that's not familiar to me, my best chances of getting there is to ask for directions. I have to admit that I am geographically challenged; even if I've been to that place before, I will still get lost if I am to return to it by myself lol! I just have a very poor sense of direction that my husband sometimes get so tired of me. If you give me a map, wow! I might as well be reading braile!

hello Raine, I have a good memory when it comes to location. I always try to remember a landmark- it helps me to recall easier. Yes, map is always good to bring when we are travelling
