I gave up my dream for my family :)

When I was just a child, I always dreamed to be a doctor. I wanted to treat people and give them care. Until I finished high school, I still had the same dream. But because of the rise of demand of nurses here in our country that time, my parents wanted me to take the course first and by the time I graduate, if I still want to pursue it, I can proceed to medicine. I completed my nursing course in the minimum amount of time. When I graduated, it is still what I wanted. So my parents gave me the opportunity. Never did I know, my family wasn't really satisfied of it at all. During my pre-medicine course, my mother and I wasn't really at peace. She was constantly blabbing about my other batch mates are now executives in a company or earning a good deal of money outside the country. I know it has been her dream before to go somewhere in United States. For me that time, working outside the country was not an option. That's why I went for medicine, too. Here in my country is where my heart is, where I am comfortable and really belong. But just this year, it took another course. Due to some family misunderstandings, I decided to end my pre-medicine. Now, I'm working on for a student visa for Australia. My other cousins are already there. I'm okay with the decision now, though I know it isn't where my heart is. On the other side too, I want to be able to support my family already. It's also one of the dreams I have to reach. Family is really important for me. Would you also have gave up a dream for a dream of your family for you? :)

We all have big dreams for ourselves but unfortunately not all of us are able to pursue the dream because of other reasons. the most commom reason would be the responsibility to take care of the family. i also dreamed of becoming a doctor but i was discouraged by my mom. i didn't know any other coursr ti take up but Dentistry. I was able to finish college but didn't pursue a career. from where you are now, i pray that you would become successful to be able to help your family. And i hope too thst sonehiw you can still make your dream come true in the future.

I never had a dream so big to be given up then. My aim when I was still studying is to be able to finish college in order to have a job. Now, I have my own family and I would support my children whatever course or dream they may want to pursue in the future.
