Cinema used to be very popular before many people had home entertainment facility. Just about every family now watch movies at home. Cinema seems to be out of date nowadays. In the city where I live, there is now only one cinema. One movie will be played more than 10 days. Movies used to be played only for 3 days and the next day, new movies will be played. Today's cinema has several halls so that several films can be played at nearly the same time.

These multiplex theatres have spoilt it all. The sound system is so loud and the last time I watched a movie I almost left the place in the midst of watching the movie. But my nephew would not hear of that. He made me go through the entire ordeal!. That was six years ago!!

You were not familiar with 3D sound yet, I am afraid. The sound actually made you as if you were also in the film.

I see. In the city where I live, there is only one such a cinema. I use to go there a lot. Now time has changed. I find myself not having sufficient time to go to the cinema. Besides, it costs more money now.

You must be talking about the Imax 3D effect. No. It was not that. Just that the music was too loud. I have seen Imax movies and there one feels a part of the movie but the sound is normal.

It has been quite a while since we went to a cinema or movie theater. They still have them but the numbers have decreased. The drive in theaters have all but disappeared here. It was nice going out to the movies and getting a special treat at the snack bar or during intermission with the family. Now the prices have gone so high it isn't as easy to go as it used to be. A family of 4 or 6 will cost close to $100 just to see a movie and get everyone a little something. You can't bring food in any more. With so many hardships watching at home is a lot easier and doesn't add an extra expense to gather around the TV. They should still change out the movies more there. Even if they ran them for a week and switched to new ones on the weekends to bring in new crowds it would be better for them and all that attend. Keeping the same shows for 10 days can't be that good for business and boring to those who like to go and can afford it more often.

The ticket being so high is probably there only a few who watch it in a cinema. The movie is still played although there are only two people who watch it. The cinema owners may get a lot of profit when the movie being shown is a long-awaited movie. When this film is on, you cannot just go there and buy the ticket because you will need to reserve it before hand. Or you buy the ticket today for tomorrow.

Once in a while you should go to the cinema and feel the difference. I used to be a movie goer because at that time going to the movie was very cheap.

In our area, 3D cinemas are very popular, especially youngsters go out with friends to watch a movie there. Personally, I am not a film addict, I only watch comedies, but usually only at home. However, I was two times at 3D movies, and the movies I have seen were "Happy feet 2" and "American Pie: The Reunion". Films like Avatar or Expendables don't awake any excitement in me, nor many other so called blockbusters, so I rarely go to the cinema.

They are also popular in my area. When this kind of film is on, a huge crowd gather for cinema ticket. Most are not lucky as the tickets are sold out, so they have to wait for tomorrow. Or buy tickets today for tomorrow performance.

Yes, this is how it happens here also. Whenever I was at the cinema, I have bought the tickets online, a few days before the actual movie, because I wanted very good seats.

Pirated ones dominate the market. I see a lot of dvd or vcd sellers have the pirated ones. The prices are lower, so is the quality.

Yes I still go to the cinema because some movies are better experienced in movie houses, like the bourne legacy and in 3d like avatar. It can be quite pricey and even uncomfortable because you have to book tickets beforehand. But I think it really is worth it if you spend it to watch really good movies.

Yes, 3D movies are best experienced at the cinema. It's totally different when we watch it at home. I mean the special effect that it offers can only be felt if we watch it in the cinema.

I was not able to watch movie yet on3D. But I already experience entering a certain entertainment site in SM fairview wherein we watch godzilla in 4D. It is some kind of an entertainment ride that last for 10 minutes.

I love to go to the cinema. The big screen is a lot better than watching movies at home. Besides, I go out with friends and often we end the evening either dining out or dining at my house something specially good. As I live in a big city, there are still many cinemas and I don`t think that they will disappear soon. Old big movie houses were turned into modern small cinemas and there are several in the same place.

It's great you still have cinemas in your city. In my city there is only one, so when a good film is on, it gets too crowded to stand in a long queue for cinema tickets.

I still go to movie at cineplexes. It is cozier and more comfortable then the conventional cinema. The seats are better and softer and equipped with drink holders. Certain halls have 3-D movies. Sound systems are also more superior than the traditional movie halls of yesteryears.

We have only one in town. The best cineplex exactly the same as you described. It's very expensive to go there. Because of this many people would rather buy DVD movies than go to cinema.

I love going to Cinemas. I am a big fan of films and love when a film comes along that I have anticipated. I try and see films as soon as possible after they are released.

Now when did I last watch the movie? I can't remember when. Well, This 2012, it seems that I have no time to go to the cinema. Its because I am so busy earning money online. I stay almost how many hours here in front of the computer. If I have enough money, I think I would have time for myself to go to the cinema

Hi, online business seems to make us forget our laisure time. It's great to slack off a bit and go to the cinema. As the proverb goes "All work an no play makes Jack a dull boy". It means that we need to have some rest, i.e go to the cinema to refresh your mind. Am I right?

Since leaving my own country and moving to a much warmer one I now enjoy outdoor cinema. It only happens in the summer but it is a unique experience for me so I go whenever there is a good film in English to watch. My favourite time was watching Mama Mia in the country in which it was filmed with the stars overhead and the moon rising.

It's been a long time, I never step to a cinema. I used to go there with my nephew and niece, if the movie is cartoons, anime, etc. Basically, the films are for children. The rest of the movie, I just sit in my couch and watch it.

Is it because you have your own DVD player now at home. You just rent DVD disc for a couple of days or so. Cinema is actually beter in terms of sound, isn't it?

Yes, that is exactly my point it a totally different experience when we are watching a movie along with our friends in a cinema hall and watching the same in closed walls. Its the ambiance, sound and effect that makes watching movies at the cinema halls amazing. Although it might be costly, but some movies are fun only if watched at cinemas. I totally agree with you. Good day!

I basically agree with you both but what I am trying to say is that the number of cinemas have dropped now. In my city there used to be more than 5 cinemas. Now there is only one located on the third floor of a mall.

I haven't been to the cinema for many years. I can buy DVDs a lot cheaper than the cost of a night in the cinema for two, and then I don't have heads blocking my view! I don't mind waiting until a film is released on DVD, but I have some friends who just have to see it right away as soon as it is released. _Derek

Your friends must have some reasons for wanting to see it as soon as it is released. Cinema probably give movie goers some nice feelings when they are inside the cinema building.

I actually love to go to cinema. There are several reasons. First, I do not have any stereo or big screen in my house. Second, going to cinema has become me and my friends routine. Third, better going outside than inside home. Forth, I do not buy the DVD. :)

I go to the cinema ones in a wile. Maybe 3 times a year. 2 with my children to see some of the animated movies comming up and ones with my girlfriend only 2 see what ever and just have a nice evening together. I believe it just something else to go the cinema. Here movies becomes a whole other experience.

We cannot compare cinemas and home theaters. There must be something more interesting in the cinema. The sound effect, the big size of the screen. When we watch a movie in the cinema it is as if we were in the movie. what do you say about it?
