Through what way do we know celebrities?

Celebrities are hot topic in our daily life. How do you get to know them?

Through their work, obviously.
The latest I can think of is Kaley Cuoco (Penny on television's The Big Bang Theory). I enjoyed seeing her in that, and so my eyes-&-ears perk up whenever I see her in something else or hear her name somewhere else or both (like when she was on Ellen Degeneres' show Ellen, talking about the Shake-Weight 
).
And--if you want to skip the wait for 'just happening to hear/see about them'--you can "Search the Web" (atop any myLot-page) for their name, and the search will usually take you to their Wikipedia- or (for movie-stars, & some tv & music stars) IMDB-page.
