I saw this movie the other night on TV for the first. For the first 30 to 40 minutes I thought it was a comedy, even though I knew it wasn't supposed to be, because of the really poor acting and all the fighting weird robots. In those first 40 minutes only Natalie Portman did any decent acting. It got better as the movie progressed. But it never came close to any of original three Star Wars movies.

I actually enjoyed the all 3 of the second batch of movies. The story made reasonable sense, the effects were well made and it was entertaining. The problem with these movies was that expectations were so high, people who I talked to who watched them never having seen the previous movies thought they were good, like any modern blockbuster. I thing George Lucas should have done the third batch, years after, with Luke's children or grandchildren fighting a new threat, because that would allow for leaps of technology and new characters. The fact that we know what happens to Anakin takes some of the joy out of the movie.

I am about to finish the return of the Jedi. I watched the six episodes and the best so far (for me) was the "phantom menace". Natalie, Liam, the boy who played anakin, Obi-wan, did a fabulous job acting wise. The rest even harrison ford's acting was nothing close to very good. The productions however was great even with the first trilogy. It doesn't have that cartoonish effect. I agree with you on revenge of the Sith. I don't understand why they choose those actors who played Anakin and Obi-wan. I think they did not get the right people for the job.
