How long are you travelling from home to work and vice versa?

How long are you travelling from home to work and work to home? How much is your over all cost when you are riding the public transportation? Do you think it is worth to your cost when you are travelling? Do you always encounter traffic when you are travelling? Do you also encounter crowded people when you are using the public transportation especially the train? Can you still tolerate it? In my case when I am travelling from home to work it is approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the traffic. But then if that is from work to home usually it take me 1 hour before I get home but if there is terrible traffic usually it will be 2 hours. What I can't tolerate here is when I am taking the MRT at Ayala station in Makati. There are times that it is being crowded before 6:00pm that I need to go in very long line. But good thing that is not everyday or else my travelling route would be different if that is happening everyday. Then what I don't like here is the expense because if you are going to compute that for months that could be deducted as Php 2040. which is not worth for my low minimum salary. I just hope that I can ask for additional salary.

Only about 10 minutes driving each way. I live in a small uncrowded city, so even during rush hours there are not much traffic. It's nice to be home without being tired of fighting traffic every day...

wow! he he it is always nice to be traveling short distance to and from work right? the pressure is lesser and gives you more time for other things and you have plenty of time with family, or at home or for some relaxation time.

I agree you are lucky sishy7 for having that kind of city. Unlike us with Chiyosan even if we tried our best to be early at work but due to too much heavy traffic we can still be late. I am a bit lucky that tardiness is not strict in our work so even I am 30 minutes late I won't be deducted but still it pisses me off how much I've tried to wake up early but still there's traffic. Anyway that is what I've been before we transferred to another far place. When I was hired the place was just near and I am just taking the jeep without encountering the traffic and being in high way. 10 to 15 minutes I can be in the office already.

Well I live about 30 miles from where I work so usually I am on the road to and from work at least 30 mins each way. Back when I used to work days there would be times that it took over an hr and a half to get home. But it is a job with decent benefits so there are no real complaints.

Earlier, when I was in my previous company, I had to travel a lot to my work place. It came to almost 20 kilometers and due to city traffic I almost 2 hours to commute everyday. But now I have changed my company and its hardly 5 minutes walk away.

But at least it is just 5 minutes walk and you are still lucky because every lunchtime at least you can still go home to eat. You can go home early without the hassle of being inside the transportation.

I travel from home to work for approximately 15-30 minutes depending on the traffic. It's only a 1 ride from home so I spend 8 pesos for it. But it's different when going home since I have to ride a motorcycle aside from the jeepney because I go home late already and it's not good to walk alone to get inside our subdivision. It will take 15-20 minutes only if I could ride a jeepney right away since there's no more traffic at night. And I have to pay 8 pesos for the jeepney fare plus 15 pesos for the motorcycle's fare.

hi, my travel time from house to my work is one and half hours because the traffic usually in the morning and when traveling to go home is less than an hour because the road is not busy compare to the morning time.so i hate every morning because of traffic and the hot temperature.

I have experienced traveling about 2 or more hours to work daily and I felt I had to make changes otherwise, it won't work for my health. I would be fatigued that I can't hardly eat and do other work at home because of the travel time. What I did was to transfer residence to a place which is about 15 minutes to the office. I only need a few minutes to walk and take a tricycle to the office. It was not only convenient but cost-effective. I avoid the anxiety of being held up in traffic and the crowds of people queuing for the public transport. Sometimes, we need to make adjustments to our normal like to make it easier and more comfortable for us otherwise, we get to age before our time. The hassle of traveling daily including the rising cost of transportation can be quite stressing.

The stress from work is what I can totally tolerate because that is normal and part of our job. But stress in travelling everyday is what I totally really hate then include the fact of how much it will cost. It is like you can't save nothing else more to your salary just because of your transportation expenses. That is why after I would received my salary this September then I will really ask my boss that I want him to increase my salary. Because if in the first place we didn't transfer the location then I would really wait for him to decide of when will he increase my salary. But not on this case we transferred in another place wherein the expenses in transportation is really hassle.

I am very near my office. Its a fifteen minute travel ride by cab. It can be costly since I am taking a cab to and fro, but communiting by bus could take longer, although much more inexpensive. The cab also is faster than by bus. So I would like to think and believe that I am paying for my convenience here.
