I read an article where they had a survey of how many foreigners had friendship with Americans. And it was upsetting that some people tend not to have any friendship. I have one Korean friend and few Japanese friends but no American friends. I would like to have one actually. How about you guys? And what is the most important thing to know when having friendship towards another raise?

I've had an American friend when I studied in an English-learning school. Sadly, we don't see each other anymore. I also have American friends online, on Facebook. I have a lot of Indian and Korean friends too.

I don't have any foreign friends, but if I will have one I think the most important thing about friendship towards another race is respect. We both have different cultures and from that culture stems up the different beliefs, whatever our opinions on matters differs and I think that respect of our differing ideas is important to have a good relationship with one another.

I have friends from foreign countries, and yes! i have one american friend also.... he is from Michigan. I met him on an online community i've found from browsing over the internet. I've some korean friends also i met during my college years... Also, I've friends from part of europe since my brother-in-law is from Belgium and my Sister lives there so, i have some friends over belgium, greece, bulgaria, and italy. If you are into online community or online chat services you can find friends from almost all over the world! The benefits of having foreign friends is that you can actually get to know more about other cultures interact with them and appreciate the things you had in common regardless of your race/ethnicity.

I have Korean friends who keep in touch with me through facebook and emails. At first, I thought it was difficult to deal with them because we have different cultures but I was wrong. They are also fun-loving people. Once they are comfortable with you, they treat you as one of them. I also have American friends but they live here in the Philippines. I also learn so much from them but what I love most about them is they choose the Philippines as their retirement place. They love our country and embrace our culture.

I would be glad to be a friend . I am American , from Kentucky. I am older . I like to make jewelry and crafts. I like to be creative and write at times. Poems, songs, books. just a few hobbies. I must be in the mood to do things. I am honest and try to treat people in an honesty way. I am female and married. I think friends are great to have even if never met . I have two friends in another states that I have not met in person but have been wonderful internet friends. They have even sent things to me for birthday, we talk on the internet from time to time . Hope you have many friends . e-mail anytime. I do not cuss and like filty jokes but I do consider friendship and a hello.

I, too, don't have foreign friends. I haven't made well or interacted too much with them although there are many exchange students during my college days. I had a few good ones but we don't talk that much. It is really exciting to have friends with the other culture because you will be more knowledgeable and open to their way of life and behavior. It interests me somehow to know other cultures and behaviors. Answering your last question, I think what's important with having friendship with those of different native with you is Acceptance. You should be able to accept them for who they are and understand that it's part of who they are. Usually, cultures can be intersecting. What is acceptable to you may not be acceptable to them so you have to adjust and make them understand too. Differences in these aspects shouldn't be a barrier to build a good friendship. No to racism. :)

I have once one Korean friend, that was when I m still working. She's younger that I am. But when time pass by because of her busy schedule at school we'd lost communication since then. I send her messages but she never replied. For me having foreign friend is good because you'll learn eventually their language and vice versa you can teach them your own language. Learn more of their country's norm.

Yes, I have some foreign friends online and in person. Most I became to know from my travels. It's refreshing to have foreign friends, they think a different way than I do and this makes for greater learning of their culture and tolerance for other people who have different ideas and beliefs than you do.

I have many American friends before when I entered into Yahoo messenger chat rooms but most of them ended up to be blocked by me. No offense to other Americans who do good things but in the chat rooms I was so discouraged that even in Religion category chat rooms you can find dirty minded people. We'll I guess most of the people who go to chat rooms just wanted to fool around and it's so unfair for other people who really want to find real friendship there. I guess real friendship doesn't really happen online. But to be fair, I got one American guy who became my dear friend for almost 6 years now. Our families have known each other too. I guess we just need to respect each others tradition and beliefs to keep the friendship going. We'll it goes to all the races not only to American people. We all need to respect one another to build friendship in an impossible world online.

I have few foreign friends and I like having cultural discussion with them. Unless for those who are close to me and I can openly say my idea/views. It's good to have foreign friends who are open-minded and honestly sharing the good and bad side of their cultures and traditions. It's nice to know our differences with other races with first hand information.

Well, in your question, you did not specify if you were talking about Mylot, or social-networking sites like Facebook. I guess whatever you intended to Mylot. Reason why I say that 99% of the friends I have are all foreigners. I could not even involve my compatriot Italian on this site. On the one hand because many have difficulty in the obligation of having to write in English. On the other because I have friends maybe a little naive that they do not know what they lost, refusing to working on Mylot.

No I don't. I also don't consider other people easily as my friend. If it comes to friends I think my kids are. Which doesn't mean I don't know other people, don't share with other people feelings or problems I just don't call them my friend or best friend. I have an African husband, a Taiwanese brother, a dutch acquintance living in Belgium and we always meet in Hungary and spend weeks together. Also 2 or 4 acquintances in the Netherlands. I can tell them everything, I do so, they do the same to me. I might call them in the middle of the night or by (high) need but I would never do so. I wonder what you call an other raise. The Netherlands is full of other raises. I never think in other raises since if it comes to that I am one myself.
