I charge my phone 3 - 4 times a day... I've been doing that for over 15 years... I use my cell phone for work as well as personal reasons... I go through a lot of talk time every month... I constantly have to charge my phone... I plug my phone into the charger every knight weather it's full or not... I got a new phone because I switched the service provider to AT&T... That was almost 2 years ago... I've been doing the same thing the whole time & my phone is working fine... I've done it with practically every phone I had for 23 years I've been using a cell phone...

I've done that few times... Once I went on vacation & left my cell phone at home... When I left, I forgot I had it plugged in from previous night... By the time I realized it, I was about 300 miles away... I returned 6 days later & my phone worked fine... In your friend's case, it might have been the short in the phone itself & it may not had to do with the battery...

My friend had charged his phone more than a day without using his phone. Which had finally resulted to vanish the screen display. May be you just used to charge it for hours only. This might be the reason why you do not have any such problems still now. Anyway you are too lucky.

I do not charge my phone when it's already full. I always pull it off from the charger once it is fully charge. I've seen news of mobile phone explode due to overcharging, so, we should and must be responsible. Overcharging won't only damaged our phone but may cause fire too.

Excess of power supply to electronic gadgets results to the creation or the formation of heat. This are the some of the simple reasons which results to catch fire and finally results in destruction

Jai sis, your this comment reminded me of one of my ex-neighbor's mobile phone accident. Her living room was burned and destroyed due to overcharging her mobile phone for nearly 2 days. She must had forgotten to pull off her mobile phone from the charger, which resulted it over heated and caused an explosion and fire as well. she lost quite a lot of her living room's precious items in the fire.

Hi thewooderboy, I would like to charge my phone when the battery power is about 20% left mostly. It would be charged before leaving for my destination in case the device is not fully charged for safety purpose You know it would be awesome if the battery is running out of power if we want to contact someone outside, especially we are on our journey riding on public transport or at anyplace. "Take out the charger from the plug to save energy" is always shown when my phone is fully charged. I always do my best not to charge my phone during bedtime so that I could remove my phone from charging. Little dot of green light is shown when the phone is fully charged and I would remove it soon. It would take shorter time for charging via AC if the phone is turned off at the same time Happy posting

Connecting your phone to a pc is a method to get your phone quickly. It takes only less time as we consider the time put them for charging by a charger. Hope you can make use of it.

ya that is quite true,i read an article about it and only few people tend to charge for longer time even after it has got recharged, there are some impacts of it,the phone might also tend to vibrate and battery will vanish.so its better to unplug it soon

It is better to unplug them soon only after we have a message showing, battery is full. So that we do not need to put them again on charge and along with it, the stay battery will stay for a long.

your friend should be happy , he can get a new cell phone , haha I never over charge my phone. Once a day is enough. But my cousin is like your friend, he never detach the phone after the time limit. sometimes ,it is left all the night or more until he gets a call, or else he forget that he kept the phone for charge. he dad already scolded him many times but, useless.

Hi wonderboy! I charge my cell phone, I think every other day because it's battery can stay long hours without charging. There are even times when I doesn't charge it up to four days. If I didn't use it for myLotting.

I think it is good to use mobile phone only for calls and messages so that the battery will stay long. Anyway i am glad to know that you have such a long life. I just need to charge my phone within two days even when i do not use them a lot.

i usually do take out the charger as soon as the phone lets me know that charging is done and the battery is full. of course if i am unable to do so.. as soon as possible i do pull it out. =) i think though that the phone will not be more likely to lose the display and it could just be a one off case that your friend's phone has had this happen to him. probably the lcd got burned because it was too hot already (i have experienced chatting on the phone with a friend and charging at the same time and the phone is really very hot!!! )

I think my friend is bit unlucky and this is the reason why he lost his display. There are some incidents which results to catch fire due to over heat but it did not happen.

Eventually if you do it, it will lose the battery's capacity of storing power. Lithium- Ion or Li-On batteries have 1-2 years "shelf" life and by overcharging it makes the battery terminal to heat up and lose it's control of storing it. Also it makes battery bulges more and makes the pack unable to restore to it's original capacity of storing power. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this and this should serve as an informative topic for everyone. It also works with gadgets like cellphones, digital cameras and laptops, like almost anything that has battery packs that store voltages and has Li-On mark on it. Happy mylotting.

If you would like your mobile phone battery last longer. You should be charging correctly. Do not remove the charge if it is not full, when your phone battery is full, you must immediately remove cas. Every night, I always charging my phone. Because, I often use to open internet, my cell phone battery, run out quickly. But, if I did not use to open internet, I am charging my phone every 2 days.

Surfing internet through your mobile phone takes a lot of charge from your battery. It is really true and i had experienced the same while i surf. So i need to put my mobile phone on charging especially on those days which i used to surf.

Hello thewonderboy, actually my original phone charger is broken and I havent bought a new charger. So im using a desktop charger to charge my battery. With desktop charger I take out the battery from the phone and charge it in a separate charger. My desktop charger will turn yellow as indicator when the battery is full. Over charging isnt good for the phone, beside it is useless since the battery is already full I think it is also wasting electric and money. By the way, my brother has a dual simcard phone and when the battery is full on charger, the phone give voice notification "battery is full", the notification wont stop until we take the phone from the charger.

I think your brother owns a new phone. Most of the new phones are available in our market with most modern applications like this, which really helps us to recognize that it is fully charged.

I guess twice a day, eventhough the battery isn't empty yet I used to charge it. I've read that my phone can automatically detect that it is already full so once it is fully charged it will not load up more current on the battery. Hope so. =)

My phone doesn't have such a feature of disconnecting it from the power supply even when it is fully charged . This really makes me to go and see that my phone is fully charged or not which wastes my good time

Hi thewonderboy, i only charge my cellphone thrice a week because the battery has a long life. usually i charge my phone through my desktop where i can able to see if its full charge or not. i am very careful in charging my phone because it might not vanish the display but might can cause fire if i over charged it.

I am glad to know that your phone has a moderate battery life. I just need to charge my phone on each of the day because I just used my cell phone at each instances. which drains the battery quite easily

Whenever there is a message on my phone that the battery is already fully charged, I remove it immediately from the charger. Sometimes, I leave it there but not more than an hour. The normal charging time for phones are two-three hours, or longer if the battery is already used or drained. You might want to have the phone checked by a technician for it to be repaired asap.

I also just used to plug out the charger when the phone is charged but sometimes due to some reasons cannot do it. At that time i need to cop up with it and used to put the power supply off after my works but i tries to put them off. It delays only when have heavy works.

New smartphone have great feature like it automatically disconnect the charger charging facility and don't allow to charge anymore. That's a good feature for the problem you mentioned that your friend encountered and I too encountered in my older phone. I now have Samsung Y phone and it automatically stop charging after it is fully charged. I like that feature of new phones.

Really it is a new exciting as well as a good feature to a mobile phone which protect themselves without our attention or our care. I hope such an application will also available to my phone and I am in search of it.

I charge my phone every other day. I always always detach it from the plug by the time the battery gets full because I know that it is wrong to still charge the phone even the battery has already gotten full. I always read the manuals and instructions that came with my phone and that is where I found out that overcharging harms the battery and might result to shorter life span.

I always make sure I take off my phone from the charger when I see the sign that it is fully charged. I do this because I have heard and read a lot of cellphones got burned and destroyed due to over charged. I don't want anything to happen to my phone so much more than my home so I really charge during the day so I won't forget taking it off the plug.

yes. this is a good suggestion. cell phones should be charged fully and it is advisable to use it till getting one line and then only recharge. same principle applies for laptops wherein automatic stop on fully charging is not there.

Every battery has certain capacity to hold a maximum amount of charge and a battery can never exceed that limit even when we charge it again and again. It will only waste your time and your phone.

Heat is the main reason why phones are damaged when left charging even when battery is already fully charged. Most often, it is the battery that gets damaged by over charging. But still, due to the excessive heating coming from the electricity during charging, components of the cellphone can heat up and be damaged too. Most electronic components lifetime enemy is excessive heat or moisture.

Anyway we people must be very careful to our electronic gadgets like mobile phones. It will get damaged quite easily when we expose or put them in charging for a long time.

when the phone is fully charged, there is no use of to keep charging the phone. That's is because the electricity that flows through the battery may damage it from overflow of electricity(if it's left unplugged from the charger) and the battery will last less time. But I do not know about the new phones, like iPhone4 etc.

Most of the new phones comes with a feature of disconnecting the charge when they are fully charged. Which saves the phone from over flow of heat and electricity. This service is just introduced now.

It is not good the charge mobile phones after it's fully charged, but I haven't heard about getting a display complaint, but this sort of things do happen. I usually unplug after it's fully charged ....
