I feel that millennial workforce prefers a flexible work hour job than their older counter parts. Millennial workforce have a different work culture that may or may not contribute to the mainstream corporate work culture. I prefer a fixed time working hours as it gives a sense of discipline and time frame, so that you can spend more time with your family. What do you prefer in case you are offered a job? A job with 9-5 or flexible work hours?

I want both lol! What I mean is that I want on a certain period to have a fixed time schedule, especially during busy season so that I will not have a difficult time budgeting my time and resources and to make sure that I will not be forgetting something undone both in my work and personal life. And on certain periods, I want to be able to have a flexible schedule in anticipation of fewer work transactions and demands. This way I will be able to squeeze in some other tasks that I need to do and have more free time on my hands.

I'm currently working with an 8-6 schedule (No Saturday work) but since I'm working in the IT field, I would still prefer flexi-time. There are times when I need to work overtime (or even overnight) but would still be required to arrive on time the next day. Of course, my definition of "flexi-time" is that, you still have to complete the needed work hours in a day but it'll be completely up to you on what time you want to start :D

Hello georgegijo, Honestly I need a flexible job to fit into my current life, I quite often need to be away and it is hard to schedule with a normal 9-5 job - thus I vote for flexibility.

Hi georgegijo, Your question is really interesting. In this corporate world, people used to work in different shifts against regular 9-5 working hours. As most of the IT companies today are providing services for foreign countries like USA, UK, Australia, Newzeland, Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar etc. Client always need their indian offshore team to have some overlapping time every day to discuss and to track the on going progress of the team from time to time. But many of these IT employee also work in changing shifts once every week. They need to focus on their health as well. This kind of abnormal changes in the work hours has an impact on their health in the longer run. Regular working hours 9-5 is always good when compared to changing shifts.

I work shifts which include days, nights, weekends, bankholidays etc at first I never used to mind because I get a weekend off at the end of every month but I sometimes don't spend a lot of time with my family so I think that I would prefer 9-5

I prefer the flexible one. Flexible time meaning you can do your job or go to your job at any time you want and I found it here in the net. Yes that's right. Working online or being a freelance gives you a flexible time working. Unlike my past work experiences all of them have a fixed time. It's either 8-5 or 6-2 then 2-10 and then 10-6 then cycle go back to 6 to 2. Sometimes my superior will ask me to render overtime for 4 hours more and I really hate that because I always want to have time with my family, play with my son. My last work experience is in call center and as everybody knows here in the Philippines most call centers are in graveyard shifts because it caters mainly clients from the other side of the world. Then after my shift when I go home I just spend around 30 minutes talking to my wife and I can't even play my son because I have to go to sleep so that I can wake up early so that I won't be late and that really hurts. You know?

I would always prefer a flexible timing. There are mainly two reasons. One is I hate to get up early. Second is we can offload many of our works to weekdays. this includes paying some bills and stuff. This would help us to have a relaxing weekend. currently i do have flexilbe timings in my job and its is very useful.

I am used to a 9 hour shift, most jobs in the Philippines are at a minimum of 8 hour of work, with an hour of unpaid lunch, with a total of 9 hours a day that you are to be in the office. I guess in this country of hours, only call centers would allow for a flexible (not even so) work shift with a 4 hour minimum work as part time job. It is very rare that there are flexible jobs in Manila because office hours remain at around 7 am, 8am or 9 am start. :D

Although a flexible working time schedule sounds to be much more convenient, but I still prefer to have a fixed working time from 9am to 5pm. As in the morning I have to bring my son to school. And I have to check his homework after I am home in the evening. If my working time schedule changes, it will lead to many problems. I love China

it depends on my mood. i have worked both sides. i like the steady hours as i know when to schedule appointments and know what my days are. after a while, i start to get bored with the daily routine. i like a flexible schedule, especially if i work a morning shift and have the rest of the day off to do errands. but not knowing or having set days off, makes it a little harder to plan things. right now i don't have much choice in my schedule. i work 10 hour days mon - thur. then fri i only work 6 hours. sat and sun i work 3 hours a day.

I not prefer flexible time I like fix time because we feel free after completing a fix time. Everyday time is changing is not good. I can decide my plan if time is fix for job.

I used to work a flexible time schedule when I was still connected to a company. It was actually a privilege they extend to a few and not by personal choice. However, I found out that I preferred reporting for a regular time of 8AM to 5PM inasmuch as I am able to get home earlier. If I report at 10AM it follows that I have to leave the office at 7 PM which is rather late by my standards. There were only a few times that I made use of the flexible time and that was during some personal emergencies. Actually, there was an issue with the workforce why some were given the advantage of flexible time considering that most had to follow regular time and be given disciplinary action for tardiness.

I would prefer a fixed working hours. The shifting of schedules are not suitable for me, I can't work at night shift. It depends, how the company will laid the salary scheme and the ladder to success.
